The pre-2007 Mini Coopers are becoming true classics that deserve to be venerated and respected. It's a shame that some of the folks who own or have owned those cars feel they have to tear down the R56 in childish attempts to make their own cars look better in comparison. What they don't seem to realize is that they make the whole R50/53 MINI community look bad. All we see of that community on this forum are these little twerps. It's beginning to take a certain degree of discipline to keep in mind the fact that most folks who own those cars are truly admirable people.

Report me?

After you and your little yes man Camelpilot have been spamming these threads non-stop.........that's ironic.

Let me strip the mask off you Jerry - er Goaljnky. I've met you in the flesh and I can place the face behind the avatar so to speak.

Yes you are stunningly handsome, yes you have undeniable sex appeal and yes you posses a rare and precious wit - but you choose to hid behind the facade of negativity.

I'm not going to report you to the mods and I'm not going to engage in verbal warfare with you. I am going to plead to your good side, the right side of the Force, the little Jerry-child hiding behind the black curtain - and ask to join us.

Stop angering people to compensate for your own shortcomings. Jerry, put down the gun and take my hand - learn to get along with the community you have chosen to join. Please, shed "Goaljnky" and all the negative things that this screen name stands for. Adopt a new name and start fresh.

Why not? Other people do it. Just check out the "letters to the editor" section.

If MINI says sales are up then fine, they're up...no agrument! I find myself ill-equipped to speculate over the point given all factors. Sales are brisk at my neighborhood MINI dealership and MINIs are being disappearing in droves. Half the MINIs that were on the lot are gone, and those are just the dealer spec cars (the ones I can see on the lot)...who knows how many owner spec have been sold!!! I think overall it's a great outlook...from what I can tell these new owners are just as excited about their cars as we were a few years back, and the Clubman will crank things up all over again. The MINI universe is expanding...no point in pretending it isn't.

note: info on Plant Oxford output came from interviews at MINI United...well worth a listen on WhiteRoofRadio or MotoringFile.

Ohhh, I do, and sometimes there are some real gems in there. Not unlike some of your quips in this thread.

I'm not afraid as an R53 owner to say I look at the pictures.

Oh good lord, now you want to hold hands? What's next? You'll want to swap spit in the showers in the wee hours? Will we be driving your R56 to that event and will we be sipping wine coolers out of your R56 inspired fridge? I decline your invitation and your pathetic attempt to corrupt my individuality with your Bangel inspired tastes.

Folks:

Let's all reach out to Jerry. Let's smother his hate with our love. I'm trying to do it on my own but it's a big job.

I need some help, please. Reach out brothers and sisters and let's smother him with positivity.

If after that he still doesn't respond - let's report him to the mods.

Some folks took a very negative stand on R56 early on and then entrenched themselves around this position through various means. It's hard to budge when when you've embraced one view so staunchly. Give it time.

Goaljnky, camelpilot, skiploder - you all seem to feel really good about the fact that 53s seemed to sell faster than they could make them. Because they were all purchased = Good.

But at the same time you seem to think that because now they are making m ore R56s than R53s, and selling more R56s than R53s = Bad.

I know that you don't care about that contradiction - you've made it pretty clear here and elsewhere that all you care about is pissing on the R56 parade whether it makes logical sense or not. And if we don't go along, well than we have no sense of humor.

Why don't you just leave this thread alone.

I recall the same convoluted approach back in 1985 during my initiation into the communist party. It was all cloaked in a veil of love, brotherhood and perceived privilege. But that wall eventually came down as will your castle since it is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

Jerry -

Here's your chance to reach out to Greg and stop this bickering once and for all.

Jerry meet Greg

Greg meet Jerry.

I'll be here waiting when you decide to bury your mutual enmity.

Skip

Thread closed

Given that this thread, which started out with a reasonable discussion point, has degraded into another bash-fest over the merits (or lack there of) of the R56 I'm closing this thread. Since this has become a pattern I want to set some expectations going forward.

NAM has always been intended to share information and enthusiasm for all MINIs and Minis. If you don't like the R56 stay out of the R56 forums and let those who want to share usable information and their enthusiasm for their purchase to do so. If we see additional posts either in the R56 or other forums by users who appear to be attempting to derail threads as we've seen in this thread or antagonizing members we will do the following:

- issue a strike with an explanation of the infraction
- put your account on moderated posting

Subsequent violations will result in a second strike and banning from the site.

I would like for NAM to be a welcoming community to new and current MINI owners and enthusiasts. If you can't support that goal please move on.

Mark
