R56 June Sales Are UP
Geez you guys (goaljnky, camelpilot) are a sad, pathetic lot. I'd laugh, but it would be like laughing at a car wreck.
It is sad when things like this cannot be discussed without some people who simply cannot get over themselves enough to back away from the keyboard and realize how pathetic they sound.
Absolutely no purpose to those posts except to create angst and negativity.

Firstly, I just wanted to get this thread back on track. But I'll give you a more direct answer to your rather rude question:
Years ago a friend mentioned that he was impressed with the car I had just purchased. I said, "thank you". His response was, "why should you say thank you, you're not the one who designed and built the car". Actually, I had every right to perceive his statement as complimenting my decision to buy this particular car.
When I state that it's exciting that R56 sales are up 17.4% in June, to me it's exciting because it justifies my car selection, it's a compliment to me. Furthermore, it says to others who have been slamming the R56 and making me feel bad with their comments, that they can say what they want, the R56 is proving in every way to be a very successful car.

Controversy of any type has no business on NAM. If these R56 haters can't keep their opinions to themselves they should go somewhere else where people will actually tolerate a dissenting opinion.
The fact that the R56 is selling as well as other popular and successful cars like the Camry, the Accord and the Buick Lucerne should be a source of pride in this community. The R53 never sold in these mass-market type quantities. These so called Mini fans are just jealous.

It's ego soul_embrace. They really think their opinion means something. They cannot see how sad they look.
And this is called misdirection. It is what people do when confronted with the possibility they could be out of their realm.

Yeah ..... nice numbers.
They always are when:
- they are comparing it to a period where they started decreasing production of current model to make factory changes for new model.
- Increased factory production capacity by adding cheaper methods (and therefore lower quality) way to produce the car.
- Half the people buying that ugly thing are thinking they getting the R53. It's the R53 that is actually selling that heap.
Sorry I didnt mean to call your car a heap. But it well... is. Not that there is anything wrong with that. (You not alone, lots of heaps out there).
But yeah. Nice numbers. Welcome to the New Beetle Community.

Your explanations are meaningless. The R56 has become both a commerical and critical success. Commerical in the sense that they have to run a ton of commericals to sell them and critical in the sense that the critics like to criticize it.
The old non-existing marketing campaign did nothing but make the older model harder to find and also drove resale values up. The new marketing campaign couple with the increased production has been successful on many fronts:
(1) It ensures that anyone who wants to buy one can find several to chosose from on the dealer's lot.
(2) It also ensures that anyone willing to buy a used one will be able to find one more easily and at a lower price.
I suppose in your mind, that these are negatives. It just shows that you see the glass half empty. I see it one quarter full.

I was in a car accident a month ago and take exception to your comment about laughing at car wrecks.
I bet a year ago sales of the R53 were slacking off because buyers were waiting until fall to order an R56. I doubt that production numbers play a role in sales figures because they should count an order in June as a sale in June, not when the car is delivered to the buyer months later. That way they can determine whether an ad campaign results in increased sales/orders at dealerships nationwide.

I've noticed that all R53 owners are unable to cope with reality.
Hate mongers love misdirection. Try to derail the thread by injecting something irrelevant. It is entertaining to watch them try.
I normally ignore them. They love attention. But in this case I think it would be interesting to analyze them and see how low they will sink to get attention.
EDIT: Maybe its just me, but I have never gone into the "1st Generation" forums. Seems to me that it would be inappropriate as I do not own one. But that would be logical. Darn.

Childish and ignorant? Your personal attack has been duly noted and appropriate NAM authorities have been notified. On a different note, I can't say that this sort of reply is unexpected. Coming from the R56 camp it's about par for the course.
