I thought this was a bad factory install, but after reading your post, now I'm wondering whether the design of the rear side window gasket/trim piece itself isn't faulty.

When they replaced the passenger side trim they somehow tweaked the C pillar trim and now it doesn't align with the back and rear windows... anyway its in having that and the drivers side trim fixed today.
My wife thinks it may be the AZ heat that's causing it. I think it happens at speed when there are intense pressures exerted on the part and the rubber chrome interface fails: the two materials appears to be bonded together... not very strongly. I pulled them appart on the drivers side, because I didn't want it to damage the paint work, as it flapped around in the breeze... it didn't take any effort at all.

After reading this I checked mine all around the beltline of the car. I can see where the chrome trim seems to "slot" into a trough in the rubber gasket piece.
Mine was popped out a hair along the pice on the rear lip of my hood, but looked good every where else. A little massaging og the rubber seemed to seat the shrome back into place. I'll be keeping an eye on it from now on, of course.
I wonder if using an adhesive between the chrome and the rubber piece would take care of the issue.

Okay... it's back from the dealer. They broke a clip for the C pillar alignment and so I have two more trips to get that fixed next week: day one to take it in; and day two to pick it up... I always take in in first thing in the morning and they always let me know about 5:15pm when it's impossible to get to them because of the traffic(min 2hrs round trip)
