Pic of my new weels.

Of course this is a lame Photoshop render with borrowed driving lights and gas cap cover etc., but you get the idea.

It's on the M.B.!

What does yours look like?

I'm not sure when it happened but the arrival date for the MADAME BUTTERFLY at Port Hueneme was moved up one day from July 2nd to July 1st. That puts us at 50% of the voyage in terms of days! Gotta find some less expensive insurance soon

Yeah, but unfortunately, that one was pulled from their schedule. That voyage number doesn't exist anymore.

But at least that Manon looks to be on schedule. It left Sweeden this morning.

We'll be Motoring Soon!

The MB is booked for Saturday morning through the canal.

Arrives: 0100 on 6/22
Scheduled Transit: AM 6/23

Watch the cam on Saturday at:
http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

Let us all know if you see her go thru. A screen capture would be nice if you happen to be online then.

Woohoo! Still moving up!

I notice that there are NO ships transiting on June 22. What's up with that? Is the canal closed?

You're right, that is odd. There are vessels booked for tomorrow, but nothing on the Pacific or Atlantic schedules for the 22nd.

I sent them an e-mail this morning when the daily report wasn't there when it should have been. Never heard back, but the report then appeared. Maybe I got them so nervous they blew the HTML post.

That'll teach'em to mess with Mini-fanatics.

The Boyd Steamship list is updated and all the 23rd transits are off the list. I think it means that all those ships are in queue to start moving through the canal. The first set of locks on the Atlantic side are at Gatun. The last set before the Pacific are the Miraflores. Two chances to catch the Butterfly going through at:

http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

WW should be updated sometime after the transit since Manzanillo is on the west coast of Panama.

If anybody is watching when she goes through the canal, do a screen capture and share.

10 days and counting to Port Hueneme.

Cheers!

Just checked WW and the voyage details shows the MB having departed Panama. Interesting. If so, 7/1 looks pretty good for Port Hueneme. It must have snuck through when no one was looking.......just like a boatload of Mini's!

Hoo Ya!

I was checking the webcam site a lot today and I didn't see the MADAME BUTTERFLY. Did anybody see it?

In case anyone is paying attention now... A WW ship appears to be approaching the Miraflores locks at the Panama Canal right now. I have no idea which ship it is but I wasn't aware there were other WW ships transiting the canal this weekend.

Here's an image of it.

Rover, UDAMON, it's gotta be the MB.

Good catch. I watched til late last night and I gave up watching today and was on my way to my Mini dealer to have a chat when you caught this since I thought we were through the canal already based on WW yesterday.

I asked my MA what date he had for my Mini and he still showed 7/2 instead of 7/1 like WW.

I then asked about my option installs, his printed report showed my Mini was noted with "port" and he asked me what options I was having installed. I said "Don't you know?" He ran off to get my sales order, looked at it and said, oh, the iPOD. I said "Yes, what about the JCW aero kit?" which he had originally written on my 4/30 order, but didn't see on the document he had. He then said he would make sure it gets installed at the VDC, which is $100 less per option rather than the dealership.

I then asked him when I will see my car and he said probably about 10 days after. Needless to say I was not pleased since Port Hueneme is a 1-day drive to my dealer.

Then he told me that if the ship was porting closer to the end of the month there would be a higher sense of urgency to get the car through the VDC, but since it's early in the month, not so much. It's the old, "do your deal near the end of the month to get the best deal syndrome." The philosophy of the VDC is if the car lands near the first of the month, no sweat, we have lots o'time to get it done before this transaction hits the books.

What does one do? Trust me, within the above are many deleted expletives.

Gee, I wonder if it will be the car I ordered when it gets here.

Hole- E- Crap. I didn't think anyone would get a shot of it. haha! thats just nuts! Oh well I guess it's better than thinking to my self: "Hey, The MB is probably at the P-canal right now!"
-----
Quick question-->
Doesn't it take about 4 to 5 days for it to get:
• Unloaded
• Checked out of W.W. and Port Hueneme
• Loaded & Moved to where ever MINI/BMW does thier Q.C. and tune ups.
• Regisitered as a vehicle that exists here in the states (what ever that entails)
• Loaded onto a transport vehicle: to destinations IE: LA, WA, OR, ID, MO etc.
• Then if there are bits that need to get installed on the car at the dealer
---> IE: Driving Lamps, Gas caps (if they're not already on it) accessories etc.
• Then how ever long it takes the dealer to put the car through what ever they put it through.

So ("Greg1059" not saying that your situation doesn't suck witch it does! I'm sorry to hear you're having problems this early) aren't we all having to wait a bit after the landing in Port Hueneme?

SHOULD take 4 to 5 days, one would think. If you don't have anything to be installed there you probably have a better chance of getting through quickly. If like me, work is done at the VDC, we're at the whim of the technicians and how quickly they work.

Ahh. So do I- I opted for a Cooper instead of an "S" so the extra money could go towards amenities that I wouldn't have been able to afford with the "S". Plus I test drove them both and yes the MCS does have a kick about it, but once I pushed the sport button on the MC-"FUH-GET-ABOUT-IT!" Seriously cool! And I really could live with out the MCS especially here in LA where the opportunity to go fast lives around 1am or so (if you're lucky) at that point I'm either heading home tired, or heading out equally as tired. Plus my MC looks pretty mean with out the scoop. I'm happy!

UPDATE!!!

I was surprised to see that the WW site has moved up the arrival date of MADAME BUTTERFLY at Port Hueneme to June 30, 2007. That's two days ahead of what was predicted when it left Southampton. It's still not showing up on the sailwx site but it's probably off the southwest coast of Mexico already. Has anyone figured out how to use the aislive site for any areas other than Europe?

No. I registered too. It looks like there's only certain geographic areas it covers and they all seem to be around Europe. Did you check with your MA on the port date? Mine still had 7/2 the other day, but I don't think they keep up like we would like them to.
