Engine smell...?

I was wondering if anyone noticed a faint "burning smell" after turning off their engine. I know that maybe it's inevitable, but maybe it could signal a problem, as well. So far, no indicator lights go on and I checked the oil level just the other day(only 3000 miles so far)...maybe I'm being overly paranoid? I'm wondering if others could see if they have the same smell as well...any info greatly appreciated!

Hmmmm. Burning oil? Burning brakes? Some "burning smell" would not be unexpected on a new car, but at 3000 miles, I wouldn't expect it. Was any oil spilled on the engine? I'd have the dealer check it out just to be sure.

Is this a smell you only noticed at about 3000 miles or have you been smelling it for a while now? Have you been smelling it long enough to tell if it is getting better or worse?

lol...is it a 6 speed manual car? if so, you might be a little rough on the clutch. Have you been driving "spirited" lately? If so, that is normal.

I noticed a burning smell after driving the tester over the weekend. Yes, I was driving the hell out of it. Too hard on the clutch, brakes, tires.

It did not catch on fire.... so I did not think much about it.

Yours is fine, just don't park in the garage.

My MCS smelled like fresh popped popcorn (seriously!) in the garage for the first 500 miles, now that smell has gone away... now I'm at 1200 miles, hitting 6k rpm, and runs like a top, feels like the engine is actually running smoother now...

They added that scent to coincide with the ad. Hey... maybe that smell is bullwhip smell?

What do trolls smell like? If they stay in the woodwork most of the time, I would think they'd smell somewhat of wood, dontchaknow...

WOW this thread really took off....I'm lovin it! So yeah, I DO park in my apartment's underground garage so maybe w/in the enclosed space the smell is more apparent?!?! As for checking the temp gauge HAHA...=) But seriously folks, can you sniff around your bonnet(s) for me and let me know if yours' also smells...I know this sounds ridiculous, but I'm curious what others have to say....=) THANKS.

Mine don't smell. First day or two, I smelled burn-off on the exhaust pipes and that is it. It wouldn't hurt to have it checked out at the dealer, unless it's really far away.

Maybe the guy who built it left a croissant and some camembert in the cylinder head.

The irony is that you just flamed him.

BTW: A jackass is a male ***. Jnky is more of a mule which of course is the cross between a jackass and a horse.
