Sport Button Function on MC 6spd

I can't detect much difference when using the Sport Button on our MC 6spd. I know this affects the shift points on an automatic and is supposed to quicken the steering and throttle response. Anyone else tell a difference with an MC 6spd?

I have never pressed my sport button. I keep forgetting about it and really have not needed it.

I'll try to remember to try it.

I love the sport button, increases throttle response and makes the steering a lot more direct! Great for getting in and out of traffic

I notice the largest difference in the throttle response. It's like a different car! Steering is a small but noticible difference to me.

Tighter steering, more throttle w/ less pedal...a noticeable difference for this driver.

I can tell a huge difference! Tightens up the steering, better throttle response and lots more fun on the twisties! When I turn the sport button off, I can actually feel the steering on mine go back to normal...you have to really feel for it, but you can tell. I love the sport button!

There is deffinatly a difference in both throttle response and steering. I'm with 07chilired; I can actually feel the steering going back to normal when you turn the button off. I find myself driving a little to hard when the sport button is on, though...

Try it, Skuzzy! But be prepared. If it acts anything like it does on the MCS, hold on tight!

I think there is a more pronounced difference with the S when it comes to the sport button. We test drove the S and the sport button was night and day difference. We ended up with a regular cooper and we turned the button on yesterday and didn't get that "wow factor" we got with the S. I can definately tell a difference, tighter steering for sure, but harder to notice the exceleration. That makes sense though, the S is suppose to have the giddy-up (it better for the extra dough!)

To me in my MCa it makes a heck of a difference, , especially in the exceleration.

The rumor is they were going to call it the YIPPEE button, but they could not fit that label on the top of the button.

It changes when the turbo boost kicks in, adds more boost and lowers the power steering pressure so you get a tighter steering feel. I love mine.

I have M7 coilovers on my R56 and get a lot less squat and front end lift when I use the YIPPEE button. Lower and stiffer ride. I still have the struts adjusted at ZERO dampening. Can't wait to play with them (tighten them up) on a smooth track.

I can feel a difference, but it is somewhat subtle.

I have driven the automatic and it was more noticeable because of the gear changes.

Huge difference as well. If I forget to turn it on, I usually end up stalling in 1st gear, due to the increaded amount of pedal required to get the rpm's up. I NEVER drive with it off, unless I forget to turn it on.

Heck, I dunt(tm) think I could stand for my accelerator to be any more sensitive than it is. On occasion I still manage to hit 2,000RPM when trying to lauch smoothly. I know Romi just wants to slap me when I do that.

I guess us folks with Auto notice it the most.

The throttle response with out the sport button engaged is not what I would call sensitive by any means. Slow, unrepsonsive, and annoying is what I would call it.

I notice a big change in 1st gear take off and in acceleration. I drove the S yesterday and there is no comparison. Coop is a lot milder! But I still love it!

You are driving an MCS manifest. I am in an MC. They seem to be programmed quite differently. For instance, in the morning, when I first start up Romi, I do not even have to give her gas to launch her. She just rolls off without a hitch and I roll on throttle after full release of the clutch.

Breathing on the accelerator hits 2K RPM almost instantly. Keeping it between 1000 and 1500 RPM during launch takes a deft touch on the throttle. A faster throttle reponse would be very difficult for me to get a smooth launch without slipping the clutch a lot more.

Still, I will try it and see what happens.

I am driving an MCS and it is hardly slow without the Sport button on. I hardly ever use the sport button and am easily pressed into the seat on take off.

I am talking about how the throttle feels, not the speed of the car.

Also I just assumed that the sport button would give the exact same changes mc or mcs. Has anybody driven both?

I test drove both, but at the time, the MC only had an automatic available.

The power curve has to be different between the two (MCS/MC) it would be reasonable to assume the accelerator curve is different between the two.

Come on Skuzzy - try it, you are not going to spoil your break in. Don't make me start whining about it.

I have an MC and can tell a big difference with the sport button, especially if I forget to push it before heading out. It's like "What's wrong here? Something feels different. Oh! I forgot to push the sport button!"

I intend on trying it. I just keep forgetting about it. The car drives so well it just does not occur to me to push it.

Ok, I pressed it on the way home tonight. I could not tell any difference in the acceleration curve at all. Of course, top speed on the way home is 40MPH and shift poiints are at around 2500 to 3000 RPM. Maybe 1/3 throttle,..tops.

I could tell a distinct difference in the steering though and did not care for that change at all.
