I hope you're not so ignorant to believe that every single R56 MINI you would buy/obtain would have the same problems or be problematic at all, and instead have simply decided that in your mind and for what you need the Civic is a better buy for you.

What numbers does the Type R GT put up? I'm starting to realy like the styling of them and a few other MINI competitors which is kinda sad for me to admit. Just cannot get over the looks of the new MINI.
I'll be keeping my r53 and get something else to replace my bimmer when it dies to use as a commuter.
Sorry the MINI didn't work for ya, good luck and happy trails.

Went and Googled some photos. I like the interior (don't love red though). Are you getting the Nav (It looks truly sharp with the Nav)? I also like the gauging (has a temp gauge for instance). The exterior fits right in with what I see the young crowd driving, cruising Montgomery Blvd. I presume you fall in that category. It's a good looking car for those who like that Japanese experior styling.
By the way, from what I think I read, everybody who has one of these will have the same interior seating colors. I think with this car, blending in with the crowd will be really easy. No more having to stick out like a sore thumb with that quirky Mini Cooper styling.
Good luck. I suspect the Honda will be more in keeping with who you are.
illegalhunter, sorry to hear about your experience with the Mini. Good luck with the new car.
My current commuter car is a Civic Si hatchback and it has over 180,000 miles on it, so it's served me well. I'm getting a Mini, but if Honda had a hot hatchback in the U.S. market right now it would have been on my short list. I want my commuter car to be fun to drive AND reliable (stuck on the side of the highway waiting for AAA is not my idea of fun). I hoping the Mini will come close to being as reliable and give me the same kind of mileage my Civic has given me.
illeagalhunter Im sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with MINI. I understand for whatever reason some of the MINI owners in Europe have had some real difficulties. If I ever had to go back to a Honda, that one would be a great choice. Good luck!
