Just took delivery....

It's finally here and after two days managed 150miles, several runs to home depot, wine tasting (not in that order).

From the dealer...there were signs of a sale with $300-500 off, which led me to ask...am I going to get that? Reponse: that's off the re-introduced marked up price. They've resumed the mark up's on the S's as their allocation for the next 6 months are gone. No mark up's on the standard. I got the non-marked up price.

Not to happy with the their finance person has it was a hard sell for the extended warranty, the coating, etc.,.. spent way too much time when I could have been out cruising checking out wineries and fun roads. MA was very good.

First impressions: fun...
next: 1) the open boot light kept coming on. After a stern close, it turned off? Maybe a small glitch. 2) seems a little rough on idle, but that could be normal. 3) still getting use to the sunroof as it's one action vent to open and you have to manually stop inbetween to get it to the right position. 4) Breaking period may be too far away at this rate....

I'll post pics later....Got to run a few errands at lunch!

Congratulations!!!

Did you buy form Niello? How long did it take for them to have the car ready for you after they received it? Do you know how long it took to get after coming off the ship? I'm eagerly awaiting mine, just got to the VDC, bought through Niello.

edit: never mind, followed up on some of your post, looks like it's close! Happy Motoring!!!!

Errands do seem to keep popping up. Since I've had the MINI, a lot of things have gotten fixed around the house.

I also forgot to add, the front scoop was opened up for ventilation, and the tool kit was included. I remember reading about these two items. Additionally the "secret compartment" is fully functional.

But what's with the hole on the turbo's heat shield? The MA said it was normal but probably more along the lines of bad design.

The jury is still out on the armrest. The top seems to slide back a little too easy.

I had the same concern about my boot light until I relized that it works like a refrigerator light. Close the boot and it goes out.

This light was the warning indicator on the tach. It's happended a couple times and I've gotten out to check if it was open and it's locked down. I open and close with a little force and it seems to go away. Could be a funky sensor.

The Carmen MINIs are getting to their owners!

Aside from a couple of minor issues, it sounds like you're ready for some fun! I expect to hear from my MA up here in Portland in the next day or two. He's been away on vacation, so I suppose it'll take a little extra time as he gets caught up on things.

You'll enjoy it. With only two days in the saddle, it's a very fun car. I recently owned a BMW 323CI sport, and this one is by far more enjoyable.

When it got to the dealer on Sat am, he said it would be ready for delivery on Sunday morning so it was a pretty quick turn around.

I will take some pics this evening and post...might have to wash it before since the astro black seems to be a dust magnet.

Just give the toggle switch a quick and firm tug. The sunroof will open in vent position

Your VDC -> delivery time seems to be unusually short- I guess that means you didn't loose as much sleep as all the others that may still be waiting for their cars! Congratulations on taking delivery!

Hi-Fi impressions and sunroof

I'll give that one a go this afternoon. I also found out I need to park away from my sprinklers, lots of water spots on the astro black, it was nice and clean when I picked it up Sunday. Now to nail down the one-touch windows down.

Also, I've now had a chance to give the Hi-Fi a good go with a variety of music and I think it's pretty good. Not audiophile good, but certainly cruising with sunroof open good. I've used both the radio and the aux connection with the ipod.

Also cruising at 65 with sunroof open is not so bad, even in the vent position it's ok. Also no noise when fully closed.

Congratulations! Wine tasting errands would be my favorite destination.

Just be careful! Car sounds awesome! Have fun!

Here are pics of the new ride. It's still nameless, but the wife is pondering some ideas.
