Rejecting my R56

Well my R56 IS A DOG its been back 5 times since 1st march .1st time was when it sounded like a Mack big rig diesel engine, they told me it was a chartictoristic of the engine
2nd time the speakers were buzzing like a swarm of horny African bees, they told me i was playing it too loud well i paid for the upgrade what do they except.
3rd time was the auto rain / headlight sensor
4 th time the footwell module went the dealer had it for 4 days leaving me with no car.
5th & ths straw that breaks the camels back my gearbox is fecked , & the dealer will have it 14 days before the BMW Tec comes to Scotland to fix it .The best bit is they want to charge me $24 a day for a stinking BMW 1 Series as a courtesy car. Well i blew my top @ that & called BMW Customer Services ,& after a heated discussion they agreed to pay for the car & my car payment this month.
Ive had enough with it its been rejected as iam not paying £23k for a car that spends more time at the dealers.
Iam getting a type r instead even if they dont take it back . So buyer beware its not all milk & honey as Motering File would have you belevie, they dont have any negetive comments on Mini . Thats called nepotisuim.

If I had paid $46K for a Mini like that, I'd be hopping mad too. Especially the way you're being treated.

Well considering your side of the story alone (you are the customer afterall) take whatever steps you deem necessary and turn it in!! There are laws for this. It's sad for you, I'm sure....even moreso because many folks seem to be expriencing none of this. Sadly, lemons do exist!!!

To be fair here....Your 1st issue is NOT an issue at all. It is a characteristic of direct injection nothing was wrong.

You have had a couple of issues but the biggest complaints was customer service not the car itself.

I thought lemon laws were for repeated attempts to fix the same issue. Not multiple issues that are resolved by a trip to the dealer

The problems you're having came up on the first R56s delivered in the UK. I'll bet yours was one of those early ones (buzzing upgrade speakers gear box failures). Those problems stopped. I know you bought it recently but I'll bet it's one of those early build cars.

If you want to avoid the teething problems of a new model, and still want to stay in the MINI family, consider an R53...

MINI knows better than to contact me about my R53; Good thing I know how to turn a wrench.

Neddless to say I KNOW MINI dont cvare about the customer the way they've treated me and while I will drive my r%# MCS for as long as possible I cannot in good faith reccomend the brand to people anymore Which really really sucks because the R53 MCS MINI is my dream car. I expected a little bit of the quirks but dealers doing more harm to the car and not fixing issues that I bring the car in for 3 times in 2 months for killed off my faith and the fact that I've been waiting for 4 months now for a call from MINIUSA about a dealer visit in Nov, and two more in Jan.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience!!! What a bummer. I noticed you're in the Daytona Beach Area; do you take your MINI to DTM?? I only ask because I've always heard great things about their service department, and was thinking of taking my MINI there if I'm ever in town w/ probs. (my parents live in Orlando), but won't if you've had this sort of experience.

Are your issues resolved now?

And to the OP - I wish you the best of luck trying to get rid of the car. I can only imagine the types of hassles you've had to go through. It really does take away from the enjoyment of having a "brand" new car. Hope things get better soon

Umm yeha guess I oughta change that I was in Daytona, went into DTM a few times to ask simple questions about the car and have a few things programmed, didn't feel confident in haivng further work done there so went to Jax, was extremely turned off by them then I went to a local Chiago Dealer about 15 times last summer, then once in Nov and 2x in Jan for a plethera of issues, I ended up "resolving" most of my issues in my garage on my time off in the dead of a chicago winter. My issue lies with a dealer that ignored complaints until the day after warranty was up, then wanted to charge me for it. (As they noticed this issue when when I was having them fix one of their techs mistakes)

Yeah Limon Law was the first thing that popped in my head. I have close to 5000 miles on my R-56 and i've had it for over a month and I haven't had one thing go wrong with it. My R-53 was in the shop 3 times in the 1st month. So I would definatelly say you got a bad apple. Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

Nepotism, noun, is the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, esp. by giving them jobs.

I don't think that is what you meant.

Interesting thing about the Texas lemon law--the law states that if the defect has not been successfully repaired in three or more attempts it's a lemon. Wonder where that leaves my friend whose R53 has had 4 transmissions. Guess she's out of luck because the defect has been "successfully" repaired each time...

I'm going back for the fouth time on my convertible top but I don't think that is because my car is a lemon. I think it is because the poor tech doesn't have a lot of experience with the top and is trying to get it right. So far everything has been replaced and it just won't work right. Still, it goes up and it goes down. . . most of the way.
