window tickling noise...

I tried searching but I couldn't find any answer.

Yesterday was the 2nd time I was able to drive the MINI since I don't have plates yet.

When driving on fairly uneven roads, a very faint tick tick tick sound seems to come from the driver side window. I tried applying pressure but nothing happens.

Anyone has this problem? Any idea where it's coming from? All I know is I hear it from my left ear

I have heard the same noise; however, I don't think it's coming from the left window. This is what I think - I have heard the same noise when there is stuff in the trunk. I think it comes from anything hitting the red little metal parts that hook the nets in the trunk. My brother was with me in the car and heard it as well; we stopped right away, removed whatever was in the trunk and we didn't hear the sound again. I heard it this morning but I had some books back there. I think that's where the sound is coming from, but would love to know if I'm wrong and someone else has any ideas so I can take care of the prob. asap.

Do you have anything in the trunk?

Hi at7815, I only have a rubber boot liner plus the cargo nets un attached and just laying on top of the boot liner. I'll try to remove everything later and will check if I get the chance to drive it.

I hope it's just coming from the things at the boot. If it's coming else where then I'm in big trouble. No mini dealership in the philippines to fix such issue :(

Anyone with any more ideas?

Does it sound like metal??? I get a tick tick like something hitting a piece of metal.

If you have nothing in your trunk, I'm afraid my solution is not really a solution after all

I have a ticking, almost buzzing sound at times coming from the center console where the parking brake is and from the left driver side under the seat. I finally tracked down the sound and its coming from the passenger side seat belt fastener -- specifically some part underneath the ribbed plastic cover. Still have yet to find the one on the driver's side though.

I really don't know if it's the sound of metal or something. To me, it sounds like the glass window vibrating or something like that. It's really hard to trace these things. In our X5, i hear a rattle that;s coming from the front tweeter location. When BMW diagnosed it, they found it to be the hood misaligned....

I'll drive the car around this weekend and I hope to find where it's really coming from. it's really annoying!

I'll check your findings but I can almost swear that it's coming from the driver side door area or window area.

Sound can travel and when it does it usually changes its pitch/duration.

I only have about 60 miles on mine so far and no noise like that at all. Matter of fact, the Wife was commenting on how quiet and solid Romi sounds and feels.

My doors weather strip ticks a little on rough roads, nothing like my accord which is almost constant.

Hmm,..never thought of that, but I have already wiped down my weatherstripping with a rubber conditioner.

My mom and dad complained that the MINI is NOISY hehe. But we should take into consideration that roads in the PHILIPPINES ARE VERY VERY BAD . The conditions of our roads amplified all the squeeks, lack in sound insulation and tire.road noise

Now where did all our taxes go for fixing the roads

Check the left A/C vent. Mine had a rattle that was similar, rather faint. If I applied slight pressure over bumpy roads, it would go away.

So I stuck a small piece of folded up paper between the A pillar and the vent piece, and the rattle is gone.

Looks goofy, I need to fix the cosmetics, but it works.

Your fix might be the solution to my problem. What i was hearing the other night was indeed somewhere at the a pillar area. Ill observe it when i get the chance to drive the mini again
