My own mix. But the first cut is, "Born to be Wild".

I'm thinking Pink Floyd or The Who

My mix has The Who, Pink Floyd (The Wall), Stepphenwolfe, The Guess Who, and a mess of others from the 60's. All rock, as I will be on the roll!

CD? I think I remember what those look like.

Seriously though, I haven't purchased a CD in the last 5 years probably. All my music is electronically purchased, stored, and played. I only wish there was a way to spec the MCS without the cd player and with something more useful (to me) in it's place like some gauges (boost, A/F, engine temp). My first "errand" after picking up my MCS was to go to the apple store and pick up a griffin tuneflex for my iPods though. I'll be surprised if the CD player is ever used as long as I own the car.

I'd reccomend listening to Cold War Kids. Great driving music.

Pick up the Pieces - Average White Band

OR

Fool's Gold - The Stone Roses

OR

Fire it Up - Modest Mouse

...

Take yer pick. Actually I'll probably throw in some Minus the Bear goodness but that was too obscure to list.

MP3 CD's for the win. Much better interface IMO and one CD can hold 10+ hours worth of music. iPod's that are sufficiently loaded with music is too much of a pain to navigate and relying on shuffle sucks.

..

Just my experience.

Fair enough. I just use playlists and like having my music shuffled randomly within the playlists. Plus, I listen to podcasts about 75% of the time now. I have playlists for every time/weather/purpose/etc. Keep my 60gb iPod loaded with all my music but also have a nano that I usually just use for working out but grab if I'm going for a drive and don't want a big iPod. I'm a diehard mac guy and therefore feel more at home with any kind of mac UI than anything else.

I listened to nothing but the sound of my engine on the way home. I may have turned on the radio at some point, but it was not until a few hundred miles that I bothered much with the stereo. I also didn't find the stereo very intuitive at first, and spent more time mastering the controls than I expected. Now, I always have a small supply of mp3 cd's I'm happily working through.

The engine sound was enough - sounded awesome!

Last night I picked up Pink Martini's new album, "Hey Eugine!". Rolled down the windows, opened the sunroof and enjoyed the 80 degree weather.

I was in no rush to get home, so I set the nav system to Home Address, took the a random exit off the crazy Washington DC Beltway, and decided to allow Dynamic route to take me home.

Once or twice, I took my eyes off the road to just stare up at the canopy of trees above me. The stress of the day and that knot in my neck were gone by the time I pulled into my driveway.

A massage and a therapy session couldn't have been any better.

I listened to Country **** Montana's (he of the Beat Farmers RIP) "The Devil Lied To Me" on the 80 mile drive home, but I was listening to the new turbo engine do it's thing, too. So the volume was up and down, but never off.

I had planned on Hard Fi "Stars of CCTV" and The Arcade Fire's "Funeral"... I ended of listening to the engine the whole way, instead!

I made a mix cd with "German Test Drive" by Spymob as the first song, but ended up like some others just listening to the car. The next day I put in my cd.

Better one

"Autobahn" - Kraftwerk. 1974.

22'42" track. Exactly door to door home-work commute.

Makes you want to smash those stock speakers, though.

The night I picked up my '07 MCS I took a disc with me by Thom called "Istory". The song, "Principle of Joy" was used by BMW in the European launch for the 1-series. It's a cool song. Here's the link for the video on YouTube.

Dropping that new car into 6th on the Arizona 101 as the sun went down, I had a big, big grin on my face while listening.
