Here's a few questions: if you drive really really skillfully, will the DSC never come on?

That is, you hit every apex perfectly, rotate the car within its limits, only apply enough power for your exit, etc etc.

If you can do all this, you probably don't need DSC?

If you want to learn how to and be able to do this, you probably don't want DSC?

Hmmmm....

IMHO, the MINI DSC is very good at letting you drive aggressively, but it's not that good. If you drove a "perfect" lap with DSC off, then drove the same exact way with DSC on, the DSC on lap would be slower, I'd bet.

Agreed, while on the track and paying attention. In the "real world"? DSC is nice for the unexpected things that happen.

I disagree there. DSC can be a good learning tool. Leave it on the first few laps at a track and it will help you see where there is less grip than you are expecting. It will tell you which corners you are over-driving. Yes, you should be able to determine these things from other inputs too (tire noise, etc), but DSC is a good learning tool I think.

Agreed. Sounds like a good argument for getting it on board! Thanks.

Does anyone know if their insurance gives them a discount for getting DSC? I've got geico, but haven't been able to find anything on that.
