Another inoperable bard door / splitdoor issue

I just picked up a 2010 Clubman. The barn doors are stuck closed. I cannot open them by hand or with the remote. When pressing the unlock button on the remote, I can hear an actuator on the back driver's corner of the car, but that MIGHT be the gas cap releasing. I'm just not familiar enough with what is happening under its skin.
Pressing (or pressing and holding) the trunk button on either remote does nothing. No sounds at all from the car.
'So far, I've pulled out the four pins from inside the trunk area below the barn doors that hold in the plastic cover in place. I think I should be able to yank it out, but I'm afraid to break what I can't see.
That is where I am. Any suggestions?

Weather is warming up so I'm back to sorting this out.
I found this diagram and it shows two locks. I'm wondering which one I'll need to address and more importantly, how to get access to them.

anyone?

this one?

you're going to want to attack #1 and #5. If you're lucky, you can push and pull on the door to relieve pressure from the latch
enough that it'll kick loose. If you are unlucky, it is stuck in 'double lock' mode.
If it's electrically stuck, there's anecdotal evidence from various BMW forums that you can get it to unlock by hotwiring it. I had no luck with that, as mine was mechanically stuck. Really physically broken.
If it's mechanically stuck, I have personal experience cutting a BMW lockset apart from inside the door, and it was... scarring.

All I got,

You should be able to get the door panel off with the door closed. There are push clips that hold them to the door. Once the panel is off, you can see the handles and latches.

Okay, it has been a minute since I started trying to sort this out. Some other life events put this on the back burner. Now I'm back at it, and I'm stumped. I cannot get this trim panel off that I apparently need to remove to get to the latch. Thoughts?
