New member. I have a 2008 mini clubman cooper r55.
I need a new exhaust from downpipe back.
I have bought a stainless steel 2.5 inch (63mm) bore cooper s exhaust with the 2 exhaust pipes on either side of the rear of the car.
i am planning to fit this to my cooper. It is easy to adapt for second exhaust exit as hanger bolts already in situ and can reuse hangers from large standard muffler box and will cut the black lower rear skirt to accommodate..
I have jacked the car up and found the 2.5 inch manifold flange on the new cooper s exhaust is larger in diameter than the cooper (I'd say 2.5 inchs to 2 inchs) downpipe and hence the 2 do not mate up.
Seems the solution is to change the downpipe from a cooper to cooper s. I need to retain the cat for mot tests.
Welcome to the Forum!
I'm afraid I don't have any thoughts on your project. Living in Germany it is out of he question to modify a car like that and use it on public roads.
However, I do wonder: What is a "Cooper GT" (in cobtrast to a "Cooper" or "Cooper S")?
I bought of ebay a 2.5 inch to 2 inch v clip reducer pipe flange that will connect the new 2.5 inch diameter stainless steel exhaust to the 2 inch original downpipe.
See pictures.
This will allow me to convert the mini copper to a twin exhaust system and stainless from the downpipe back.

Well rhe project Cooper GT is now finished.
The 2.5" stainless twin tailpipe Cooper S has now been fitted to my cooper engine.
There were 2 main issues:
1. Fitting a 2.5" exhaust to a 2" downpipe, and
2. Needing to cut a 2nd hole in the rear valance to accomodate
The 1st was solved with a v clamp reducer and the 2nd by cutting a hole in the rear valance.
the car now breathes a lot better and sounds much better a nice deep bellow.
