OK, this is what I want to do. I want to take my cooper and take the front, side, and rear bumpers off and replace them with the S bumpers. Then I want to do the S UUC exhaust. Does anyone know if they will just bolt rigt on or will I have to drill some holes. I know that I don't have the hangers for the S exhaust but I talked to my exhaust guy and he said that he could fabricate some hangers.

Thanks
Ben

no disrespect meeant, but i think it might be cheaper just to trade in your MC for the real thing.

Of course you could mount the exhaust on - lose the spare on the Cooper. I say go for it and disregard the naysayers . Some people like the Cooper and want to make it a little different looking than the other Coopers in their neighborhood....and I've done my share...

The bumpers, and skirts are a direct fit, real easy to do. The exhaust could be a might bit tricky, but doable. If you take off the rear bumper trim on your cooper rear, and put it on the "S" bumper you can run your stock or aftermarket cooper exhaust instead of going thru the trouble of running a "S" exhaust. The bonnet is also just a simple swap. They even have carbon ones now.

cheers, jason

Well the front bumper is pretty easy to do and so is the rear. You must remove part of the front inner fender liners to remove the front bumper and be sure to move the mounting points for the fog lights (Cooper And Cooper S bumpers require different mounting points). The rear bumpers requires partial removal of the inner fender liners as well. Everything will screw into the holes that where already there. i switched from Cooper S bumpers to Cooper Bumpers.

Doug is installing a Mini bonnet and pulling off his supercharger next week.

$5 or 6 thousand more and it'll become a real Mini!

For some reason, it bothers me that vdubdoug and dandp haven't just exchanged cars.

Great idea Andy, they'd both save a lot of money that way.

Do we get a commission from both of them?

As you can see vdubdoug was able to change the rear bumper from MCS to MC and still keep his MCS exhaust. The lower valence trim part can be removed and switched for the MC so that the exhaust tip opening in on the right in it's normal position and not moved to the center.

The exhaust for the MCS is very different than the exhaust for the MC. The normally aspirated engine needs a bit of backpressure to work or you will LOOSE power. If you mounted the stock MCS exhaust onto the MC without compensating for proper backpressure then you will run into trouble.

Further you will need to loose the rear spare tire and do some exhaust mounting tricks. Additionally you will gain weight since the MCS dual exhaust is very very heavy at about 44 pounds while a single sided MC exhaust is a bit more than half that weight. So less power and more weight means bad performance.

The way around this would be to get the tailpipe of a stock or aftermarket MC exhaust and cut it off and replace it with the tailpipe from the Alta sportone exhaust with dual tips that end in the center. The muffler is built for the MC but the tailpipes give a center mounted cosmetic look.

Or just use your imagination.
