Powerfold vs non powerfold mirror caps

Hey guys, I don't know if this topic has a thread already, but I couldn't find one so, here we go.

I have a 2010 r55 s and was looking at getting some mirror caps from a member on here. Problem is, I have the powerfold mirrors and the caps they're selling are for non powerfold mirrors. Does anyone know what the difference between the two is as far as fitment? Is it just a matter of not being able to use the powerfold with non-powerfold caps or is there any modification that can be done to make them fit?

Thanks in advance!

The caps are the same and the size and fitment are the same. Only difference is two or three extra wires for the motor and/or if you have heated mirrors too.

So as far as caps, the shell/outside colored plastic, they're the same.

Sounds like it. You can negotiate I'm sure.

I don't think that is correct. Everyone lists powered and non-powered separately for a reason and you can use www.realoem.com to check the part numbers are different. I had a 2011 MCS and the power mirror caps (carbon) I bought did not fit my non-powered mirrors.

I hope this helps cause I'd hate for you to buy a hassle.

According to this, the different part numbers is for the material or color. Nothing about being power fold or not.

I could be wrong!

There are two different listings for mirrors: folding and outside. If you compare primed folding to primed outside, for example, the numbers are different. Plus, when trying to install them on my own car they were different.

They are different...

Check out the interior shots. There is a tab near the mounting arm opening that is angled differently (if nothing else)

Welp, I can 100% confirm they are completely different. I ended up getting a set of non power for my mini (which is powered) and the cut out for the arm is way too small. Oh well, lesson learned!
