2 stupid questions
I have a 2010 Clubman, I see NAM lists it as an R55... It's also an R56, right? I mean as far as BMW Mini generation?
Can anyone tell me, the MPG listed on.the computer, is that lifetime MPG or since the last oil change, or a certain amount of previous miles (i.e. 3k)?
Thanks!

This link will clarify your first question:

As for your second: That average MPG readout along with the average speed can be reset. It could have been reset at any time so without know when, the information is more than likely meaningless to you. I reset those when taking off for a road trip just to satisfy my academic curiosity. (when people ask what kind of mileage I get with my MINI I always say 'I don't care, it's too much fun to worry about that'.)
Go to pages 49 and 50 on the link below for instruction on how to reset the computer readouts. http://www.miniusa.com/content/dam/m...0808__2009.pdf

That is mileage to next recommended service, which could oil, brakes, fluids, coolant, etc. You can take the key fob to the dealer service desk and ask for a service mileage printout for the car.

PS: When it comes to taking care of your MINI, ain't no such thing as a stupid question...except maybe 'what time is the midnight buffet?'

This is the schedule I've created. It's just a guideline mainly for giving me a heads up, others may agree or call me crazy. After a discussion with my main wrench, things may be put off for a while or we may exchange knowing looks and get it on the lift that minute.
BG-44K every 6 mo
Lube/oil/filter/rotate tires every 5K (inviolate)
Brake Fluid every 20K
Coolant every 30K
PCV vent valve every 30K
PS Fluid flush every 30K
Serpentine belt every 40K
Plugs every 40K
Fuel Filter Change every 50K

On the first gen MINIs they say the transmission fluid is for life. I change transmission fluid approximately every 30k miles or so. Can't hurt.

I thought of 2 other things I can't get from the manual.
1. Is the vent in the boot, on the right, connected to the main heating and A/C? Or does it just vent out to the side of the car?
2. The defrost button, I think that's the button with the snowflake, I thought that meant Air Conditioning was on, but the manual says my Auto temp/climate control turns it on and that button cools and heats the air as needed. Is this some fancy feature that just applies to the windshield to keep it from fogging up?
