MINI offer in mail

for only $94 a month more I can trade my 2013 clubman in for a way too big , 4 door ugly car. Of course that is $94 a month for 72 more months and at 2.4% interest. My loan is only 0.9% . I'm sorry I will keep my sleek sexy R55 .

If you don't want to hear opinions of the new version clubman don't troll the R55 threads.

There needs to be an #R55Love tag.

I actually kind of like the F56 hatchback (although most of the details are WAY overstated and overall the whole F series lack the subtlety/cuteness factor that all previous models had), but the Clubman... I keep trying to warm up to it and can't. It lacks all of the styling cues that make the R55 work so well. The tuxedo-like roof/C-pillar/bumper graphics, the formal, tapered, sporty roofline, the traditional vertical tail lights... there's so much that COULD have carried over to make the Clubman continue to be special, but the design team left the rails. :(

Ah...the cyclical hate for the new MINI models coming out. The R56 got the same hate from the R50/R53 owners in 2007.

There are still a few small design details on the F54 Clubman bother me...especially the sharp angle at the top of front-door window frame, where it meets the A-pillar...but I don't think any of those would prevent me from possibly getting one when it's time to replace my R55.

I personally can't say I HATE the F54, but it just isn't as well organized a design as the R55. When one looks at the R56, it makes a cohesive statement without bowing to a "gee whiz" fashion trend. Likewise, the R55 looks purposeful in its design. If the R56 hadn't have existed, you wouldn't look at the R55 and say "it looks like it was made from another car and had the details changed." For me, the F54 DOES look like it was modified from another sibling but with added little things to try to differentiate it. When my R55 needs to go to the great Mini race track in the sky, I have the feeling I'm going to be either hoping for the NEXT AFTER the F5X series to be more attractive or I'll attempt to resurrect another R55.

I think the new Clubman has its place. Who else offers a turbo AWD wagon family car with a manual transmission?

The 500L doesn’t really count as a wagon...

And, last I knew, none of those other manufacturers have offered a manual transmission for at least a few years.
