Antenna roof seal dry rot and coming off

I've noticed the rubber seal that runs around the base of my roof antenna is dried, cracking and starting to peel off. I see that ECS Tuning has a lot of different seals and gaskets on their site but I couldn't find this one. Does anyone sell a replacement? Can I improvise a replacement?

That seal is part of the antenna base so I don't believe you can get it separately. It's fairly inexpensive though. If you don't have nav or phone preparation it's 65203442105. If you do have nav or phone preparation it is a little more pricey and would be 65203456090. If you're unsure, you can give me your vin and I can get the right part for you.

What year do you have? MINI jumped around allot on the year and styles on the base. You cannot get that gasket separate though , just the whole roof antenna base.

Thanks

Yep, looks like you have the Sat. Prep one which is shared with the Nav one. You have that little wind bump on yours.

Any chance I can replace it with the cheaper base since I don't have the sat nav option?

You could try the cheaper base gasket itself off the part, but I don't think it has the same form fit, looks like its close. , i guess its worth a shot. I just dont want water in there. If you do try it post back up. If you have the cheaper base you might loose a function

Thanks, I'll look into it. My wife has an 09 R56 and I may try and swap hers antenna base to mine and see if there is any issues. Any tips for how to remove the base? I know the antenna just unscrews from the base.

Welcome,

Easiest way is to dip down the rear headliner , with the boot open and clip off the rear inside D pillars, then reach the screw on that antenna base. That's it.

Ended up carefully using a little bit of gorilla glue and got the seal gasket glued back to the antenna base. Going to see how long that lasts but if I need to replace the base I'll go with the sat nav base. My car does have satellite radio option which I'd like to keep for retail/trade in value.

Thanks for the update, did you get gorilla glue on the paint, body or just the seal.

I applied it towards the bottom of the antenna base, there is a small gap between the base and the roof. Then I pressed the seal back into place. I didn't use much glue and it doesn't tend to drip so I think I kept it off the roof. I wasn't too concerned about the seal or the base since if the glue didn't work I'd have to replace them both anyways. But I'm happy for now.

Just wanted to make sure you did not gorilla glue the antenna base to the roof, that stuff is strong and likes to bubble up.

I had a brain fart today and forgot to remove my shorty antenna before I went through a car wash. Resulted in breaking my antenna base. Before I order this, can you tell me if it's difficult to remove and replace?
