R55 Fender well nuts, spinning?

Fender well nuts, spinning?

Installing my FMIC today the well its are just spinning. Suggestion to get them out?

I use a pick or screwdriver to hold the outside part while turning the inner. If they round out you will need to destroy them to remove and get new ones.

actually a very common fastener used on MANY cars today

they are disposable . . . you can buy a box of them at any decent chain part store

Normal for them to spin, I bought a bunch of them and had to replace 3 when I put in my FMIC

You can try to heat up a philips screw driver and melt it into the fastner then remove it and replace.

The liner has those clips that always seem to twist and break. Use a fat head Phillips OR a split head pry tool to hold them so the head will not just spin. And goodluck.

Oh, yes, those clips....... Land Rover uses them and other closely matched styles of them as well in many places.
Plus 1 on using a Door Panel Removal tool to hold the lower 'socket' section from spinning while trying to remove the inner 'screw/pin'.....: mad:

Yep, when BMW took over Range Rover / Land Rover they acquired the BMW / MINI hardware.
