R55 Inexpensize spare tire
Inexpensize spare tire
I have a 2009 Clubman S with non-run flats. I need a spare tire and am wondering if there is an inexpensive solution. The spares for the Mini's are ridiculously priced. I've heard that other car manufactures spares might fit (ie Honda Civic). Can anyone offer some sound advice. By the way, I've checked local junk yards to no avail. Thank you.
4 x100 bolts are fairly common. That means 4 bolt pattern and from the top bolt to the bottom bolt (middles) is 100 mm. Some Chevy. Some Hondas. Some vw's. Can get a donut or a 15" real tire to fit in the boot tray. Scrap yard. Or Detroit tuned
We offer one that works and fits perfect. Have not found a good option from another car that fits right and is cheap.

I recently purchased the spare tire and WMW and DetroitTuned both are great options if you decide the junk yard is too much of a hassle.
Note: if you have the foam insert it will not fit inside the spare. There is a different foam insert that fits inside the spare. DT sells a full kit, or your can order that part later.

I've driven for 40 years and I've never had to change a tire on a paved road (had to change a couple while off roading though). Most flats are slow leaks that are discovered as a flat when the car sits overnight and you notice it in the morning. Carrying a small air compressor and perhaps some tire plugs (and know how to use them) will work 99% of the time and it will get you to a shop so you can get the tire repaired.
