Way too much brake dust

I have an 09 Clubman. 68k. The brake pads seem to me to be putting off WAAAAAAAAAY too much brake dust. I could clean the rims once a week easily. I checked the pads and the dealer has also, they have plenty of pad on them, that said when I hit the brakes you can hear them making a pad rubbing noise. It is not a metal on metal noise but like a soft sound when the brakes are applied. All most like the pads are soft and they just make noise when engaged. The rotors are fine.
What would be a good pad that would put out the least dust?

I noticed the same with my car and installed Akebono pads. I was a bit skeptical about dustless claims, but I must admit they have nice feel, bite, and virtually no dust. I mean NO dust.

Just about any aftermarket pad will produce less dust than the factory pads. There are some pads that claim to be 'dustless' which is a bit of a stretch, but generally, they produce the least dust. EBC Greens are a good example of those. We do sell them with just a little reservation: they have on occasion de-laminated under hard use (the pad material falls off the backing plate). I prefer the HPS pads from Hawk. They perform extremely well and are much lower dust than stock.

i have an 03/2012 build cms all4 and the oem pads produce less dust than any other vehicle i have owned

mini must have changed suppliers at some point

maybe you could convince your dealer to a "good will" change to the current pads

I have an 09 mini R56 I noticed the same thing I was cleaning my rims every week I used aftermarket wagner thermo quiet pads and noticed a lot less brake dust. they were only like 50$ so I was happy with the results and I'm impressed with the stopping power. Over all I'm please the only thing is that they don't come with the pad sensor so I had to get that separately. Motor On :D

I have a 2009 Clubby on which I installed Carbo Tech 1521s at 3K miles...over the last 33K miles, there has been a significant reduction in brake dust. Before I bought new Michelin AS tires, I pulled each wheel, cleaned the inside of the wheels and applied Rain X...makes it much easier to remove dust & other grime.

Stock pads are wicked soft (decent brake power, quiet, easy on rotors).. trade off is the dust.

When these are smoked.. I plan to go with a set of Hawk pads.

I've used the EBC Green Stuffs on other cars, didn't know about the delamination issue. They put out a very light, tan dust.

My buddy who was a tech at the local Mini dealer recommended ordering my car with black wheels because of the crazy brake dust. I was glad I did.

I put factory white wheels on my 2011 MCS, and the brake dust from the factory pads was bad. I switched to ceramic pads and the brake dust was reduced to an acceptable level, and brake performance has been fine.

+1 on The EBC or Hawk pads. Some of the akebono pads have less dust. We have them all right here:

We have the pads here for your 2009 MINI Clubman S :
