still have oil leak after replacing turbo feed line.

I started smelling burning oil a few weeks ago and was told it was the oil feed line to the turbo. Mine wasn't leaking at the turbo, but behind the heat shield where it connects to the engine block. After replacing the line it is still leaking oil from behind the heat shield. Is there any other place near this fitting where oil could leak? I got the fittings tight enough (although you can't really test it before you get the whole exhaust system back together). Any ideas?

The return line is a frequent source of leaks. Also, the gaskets for the oil filter housing, where it mates to the block, fail quite frequently.

Are you seeing a leak or could it be residual from the turbo line leak? I would clean it and keep and eye on it for a few more days. It may take several re-cleans to get it all. ...just sayin'

I have cleaned everything I can reach and it's definitely not residual oil from the turbo feed line replacement. I can see where the feed line connects to the block using a mirror and there is fresh oil coming from that area. All fittings are brand new and properly tightened. I've done this twice now with all new fittings both times and it still leaks. Just wondering if something else is leaking near this area, or maybe I have a hairline crack in the block where the banjo bolt threads in. Guess I will take it apart again and use die penetrant to start looking for cracks in the block.

Haha, that crossed my mind. I'm hoping someone will steal it or something. I really do like the car but if it starts costing me an arm and a leg I'm getting rid of it.

This is why we decided to get rid of our '08 Clubman S. Too many engine engine related issues that seemed to never go away.

Turns out it was the oil filter heat exchanger (which fastens to the engine block just above the oil feed line to the turbo). This time I paid the shop to do it because I'm sick of working on it. Leak is gone! I am $600 poorer...
