Been looking at R55 S's. Are these fair prices?
Hi!
Having owned a new-to-us R55 justa for almost a month made me thinking of trading in my A4 to get another R55, this time an "S". My A4 has been really nice to me, apart from some minor issues, but she's hitting 100k soon. Ok, real reason is I like the MCC a lot that I'm willing the give up the AWD of the A4
Anyways, since I'm used to the kick of the turbo on my A4, I'm thinking of going with the "S" this time around. Found a couple of MCCS in my area that sparked my interest.
Would you say these are good prices for the MCCS?

Because it is being sold as a Mini NEXT Certified car, my vote goes to the blue 08 as the "better" value (plus it lists MORE options vs the red one). Price for the MY/mileage sound OK but it is winter and quotas need to be met so maybe they will flex a bit on price. Best of luck.
I just recently bought mine privately. It's a 09 with 65000 miles the milage is quite a bit more than these, but it was only $13000. Also came with the 100k maintennce/service agreement. THere was a non-S 09 Clubman that was NEXT Certified that went for $15000 here too, but it was pretty much just a base package. This was in SoCal.

Data point: I paid $18k for my 09 MCCS a few months ago, 44k on the odo. Probably could have saved a few bucks if I had shopped around longer but I really like what I got and have no regrets. (Came with a set of winter wheels in great shape too.)
Another data point for you(I think both options are good prices btw) and like the other, my vote goes for the blue. Just bought an 09 Clubman JCW for 22k with 25k on the odo. Was the only JCW Clubman so didn't argue with seller :X

Interesting dilemma that I can relate to as we are fond of both cars. My oldest daughter has a 2003 Audi A4 Avant 1.8 Quattro that we bought her when she turned 16 and my youngest daughter has a 2009 Clubman S we bought when she turned 16. Both cars were bought used for roughly the same $20K budget and both had about 20K +/- miles when purchased.
They are both great cars but there is no question in my mind that the MINI is more fun to drive. The Audi has held up well but still has only 65K miles - between high school, college and now a short work commute she doesn't drive much. We also have a close friend who drove his 2003 A4 1.8 for 170K before trading it and had almost zero problems so over all I we still feel good about the A4.
In my mind the MINI has been so great that I went and bought an 09 JCW Clubman about a year after we bought the S. I stepped down from a SUV and I am thrilled.
Of the two cars you listed I would also likely go with the blue 08 for 2 reasons. The lower milage and it has Xenon lights which to me are always a big deal. Both cars look clean but the red one has a Turbo sticker on the "secret compartment" cover which strikes me as a red flag - likely some one who drove the car harder than I would like plus it has the higher milage. I believe you should be able to do better than the asking price on the Blue car but thats just an opinion.
Car buying is always a revealing exercise and whatever works for you is most likely the best thing. Best of luck in what ever you decide.

Thanks everyone for your input. The blue one seems to be the "better" choice given the MINI certified part, plus the slightly different equipment.
Will be checking it out soon. If I go through with it, probably wait until almost the end of the year for a better deal, assuming they still need to fulfill quota
