Bluetooth standard in 2009?

I recently bought a 2009 CLubman S and I was thinking that there was bluetooth standard, but I can seem to get any of the functions to work. I'm now thinking maybe it was standard only on newer models. Is there any way to add the functionality?

No it wasn't standard. Dealer could add but probably really expensive.

Well that's a bummer. I hate having unused buttons on my stearing wheel, lol.

BT only became standard on the 2013+ cars. You can get parts to do it yourself but it is a couple hundred bucks. This retrofit is for a Parrot system and it might be worth it if you really want it. http://www.newministuff.com/new/index.php
IMO the OEM mic and system isn't worth trying to add, it sucks.

Assuming you have a left-hand drive car: Have you tried moving the mic to the left-hand side? I did this, and it went from breaking up badly when I spoke, to sounding like a speakerphone but steady and clear.

That said, the dash interface to the phone is pretty awful. But the integration is nice.

I don't even use bluetooth, or the phone function of my phone, all that often. I just don't like having unused buttons.

Yeah, people still complain and my wife won't talk to be over BT. Also, the auto AC like to put air up the windshield and roll right over the mic, adding a crappier noise to the other end, I have to turn the air down when I call people. I actually turned the BT off recently as it's not worth it.
