Clubman - Tire Questions...

Hi guys,

New member here. Purchased 2011 Clubman S Hampton earlier this year. Love the car, but like most other comments - I'm finding the ride a bit harsh for everyday commute - especially in the city (Toronto roads are brutal). Questions:
1) Any recommendations (brand/model) to replace run-flats with non run-flat tires?
2) I have a set of Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip 205 50R17 93V winter tires from my last car. Will these fit my car?

Thanks!

All depends on your budget, driving style and type of tire (summer performance versus all-season).
There's been a ton of discussions in the wheel / tire forum, and Alex@TireRack is extremely helpful if you have some criteria to pick some new rubber.

It'll have a slightly taller side wall profile, but if you're not lowering the vehicle during the winter, they'll fit a-ok!

I replaced my OEM runflats with Continental Extreme Contact DSWs (245-45-17) and am extremely happy. The ride is so much better - less harsh and much quieter. I also purchased a compact spare from Detroit Tuned. My car came with the tool /tire tray under the flat load floor and the compact spare fits perfectly - well worth the extra cost for the peace of mind (and the Contis even came with a free B&N Nook e-reader!).

Next up, a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks for the 16" wheels I just purchased on Craigslist, for winter driving.

Hope this helps.

I replaced my run flats with Nitto Motivo 215/45/17 tires and have not regretted it at all.

Very pleased (on 2nd set) with Michelin Pilot A/S Sport Plus. I upsized to 215 size from stock 205's. Cheaper, (more common size), better grip than 205's and no rubbing. Tire has good wet and dry traction, very smooth and very quiet AND has 45k tread life warranty. Good luck!

I have a 2011 Clubman and replaced the runflats with 205/50/17s and have had no problems at all. The ride is better than 45 series tires and it fills in the fender well area and make the car look good. You can see my Gallery for pics.

You also might consider replacing the shocks with Koni FSDs. We have them on our '08 Clubman and had them on our previous '06 Hatchback. They make a huge difference.
I recently replaced the runflats with Michelins and detected some smoothing of the ride but nothing compared to what the shocks accomplished.
