Ordered a JCWish Clubman S

After debating it for a few months, I finally ordered my mini Clubman S yesterday. It's going to be kind of weird going from a Subaru STI, which is my current ride into a JCW. but from what I've heard, I think it will be a fun car. As far as options, here is what I've ordered-

2012 MINI Clubman S
Auto tranny (My bad feet can't work a clutch anymore)
Sports suspension
DSC
Xenon headlights in a black headlight housing
Sunroof
Tech package w/ nav
JCW tuning Kit
16 inch black wheels (I'll throw some snow tires on the stock rims)
Roof Rack
Yellow mirror caps

British Racing Green II exterior/ a black roof
Hot Chocolate lounge leather interior
Beige door panels
Red leather accents
JCW Carbon Fiber dashboard
those silver circular door finishers

In the meantime, I have to sell off my Subaru WRX STI to fund the MINI purchase.

The dealer just got my car in and it looks pretty neat. The interior looks wild and the carbon fiber trim really looks cool. I should be picking it up later in the week. I'll post some pictures when I get it.

Yes, I want to see how the interior looks before I comment on the colour choices.

Enjoy the new ride!
As far as interior goes, if you like it that's it. Nothing else is important...
But, it does look like an orphan interior put together from different cars
Reminds me on those VW that had every exterior panel in different color...

Everytime this thread is in my "new posts" feed, I think it reads "Jewish Clubman S" so today I had to click in and make sure someone didn't stick a yarmulke on a Clubbie. Mazel tov on your new addition! Thanks for posting the interior pictures...its all about personalization, right? I have the polar beige door panels coming on my car, and didn't realize until seeing yours how far back the polar beige goes into the back seat. I was led to believe, or misunderstood, my MA when I asked how far it went. Happy to see it will wrap all the way to the seat...and with the piano black surfaces I picked, I think it will POP nicely.

Love the seats

I my opinion the seats are what sets the Mini off. It reflects the old school heritage of the Mini. Your seats look great.

I purchased a clubman back in Mar and have made several mods to the interior but with the standard seats, you still don't get the effect that having seats like yours add to the car.

Good luck

Now that is a cool idea for a photo! I have not seen that one before. I'm now thinking of interesting variations for this.

Just curious, but shouldn't there be a JCW badge on the upper front grill?
Cool clubbie!

Congratulations. I see from the plates we are neighbors
Same state as well as dealership....my countryman has been relaxing in there shop as they work on solutions for a high vibration at speeds in excess of 60mph. Been driving there 2011 S Clubman loaner for the past 4 days....and I must admit, I'm impressed with handle, feel and spunk of it! I'll make sure to salute the old mini wave as we cross paths. Enjoy

No, you weren't the only one - my mind keeps wanting to read it that way too. Sweet JCW, regardless!

Yes, it comes with cat back exhausts that extend out from under the rear bumper. They're nice sounding. The kit isn't high on power. 0-60 isn't going to rock your socks off. That said, from 70-130 MPH there is more of a pull versus the standard S. High speed stability seems to have a planted feel.

People complain about the rough ride their Mini's get, but mine isn't rough enough. I'd like to find a suspension kit, or some springs that really tighten things up for super aggressive conners.

I'd also like to find out if there is a tuner who could really transform the JCW into a stage 2/ stage 3 beast. Are there any other Mini tuners out there?

I don't miss my STI much. Yes, the sti was a little faster. Yes it could do a buck sixty. Yes, you really felt the power. But the mini handles better, acceleration is within a second of the STI. It brakes better. it's MUCH more comfortable on trips (I put 1000 miles on it in a week).

One of the best things is that I get the right kind of attention from other motorists. The Subbie attracted lots of stares from people... and cops. The attention was kind of cool at first, but I was used to the car and I'd me at a stoplight, and people would be giving the car the once over from another lane, or I'd be coming back to the car from a store and I'd see young guys around it talking to each other. I wasn't used to that. It wasn't a Marcos or a Vector or something exotic like that.

People would try to race me. They'd ask me how it compared to an EVO (the evo would smoke it). I'd get flak because I wasn't a street racer.

My mini is a sleeper. People look at it, but I don't get tons of attention, which is nice, and the way I drive, I could beat out most STI's if I ever raced them.

I think the thing I miss the most would be the "kick me in the stomach" power.

John,

It's just to the right of my license plate. I put some stripes on the car, BTW.
