R55 Dead Rabbit In My Engine Compartment
Dead Rabbit In My Engine Compartment
OMG.... I smelled something like a dead animal near my car yesterday and thought it was something in the area. Then I noticed it this morning after I parked my car in the parking garage at work. When I went back to my car to grab some lunch, I still smelled the odor and decided it was coming from the front end of the car. I pulled off the plastic cover that allows access to the fog lamps in the right front wheel well and sure enough, I saw a furry lump. I grabbed a plasic bag and dragged what was left of a full-size rabbit out of the hole. Then I notcied the larvae coming out of the rabbit. I looked through the hole and the Mini Cooper sci/fi horror contiued as there were what looked like 500+ larvae crawling around. I went to ACE hardware and sprayed the area with hornet spray and then to the spray wash to clean all the crap out.
The rabbit must have crawled up into the engine to get warm but was probably killed by the heat when I drove the car to work. It must have happend at least a week ago as the rabbit was almost fully consumed by the larvae.

Eeewwww! Nasty. So I guess it did happen.
Something similar happened to a buddy of mine. Ran over a dead cat which got stuck to his exhaust pipe. Cooked up a stench you would not believe.
