Rattles and squeaks covered?

OK got to vent I have a 11' Clubman S with like every freaking option on the thing. ~37-38K before tax. It squeaks and rattle's inside like a 20 year old Chevy. I know its supposed to be a stiff and sporty car but I have had trackable cars that squeak less with much stiffer tires and suspensions.

Car only has 3K miles on it now, there in in the dash, in the passenger seat, they are in the engine, in both the driver door and the little suicide door. Additionally the stereo speakers are now somehow blown out. I listen to NPR on the way to work I have no idea how it happened except in service or on the lot.

Also stereo now refuse to hold onto HD stations even though my wifes does in exactly the same areas and the volume just keeps going up and down.

Can I just drop the thing back at the dealer with a list or the squeaks and rattles or are they not covered by the warranty.

I have had the car ~2 months and I am serious about selling it if they cannot get it fixed. Also my wife has the same exact year Mini but in a Cooper S bodystyle not a single freaking option other then sport suspension and xenons. Nothing is wrong with it and her suspension is significantly stiffer then mine.

Dude I'm so sorry to hear that. I got my car last week it's been perfect so far. I rode for a long while with the radio off to see if theres any rattle or sounds. Aside from loud road noises. There's no other sounds with mine. You definitely should take it to the dealership. It's a freaking fully loaded brand new car. It should not be anything but perfect. I'd your dealership is respectable they will do all they can to help.

We got a really bad rattle somewhere in the dash on the driver's side about a week after my girlfriend got her 11 Clubman, but it was on one particular stretch of highway with funky grooved pavement, and once we got to different pavement it went away. As far as I know, that's the only rattle she's had.
Best of luck getting yours sorted out.

Don't do that. Have the service manager in the car. Drive it and have him listen to it. Otherwise they can say oh, we can't reproduce it. If you do this an they can't fix it. Once ur out of warranty if something happens u can get themto cover it because they did not fix it during warranty.

Sorry to hear you are having so much problems with it. My car has 78000 miles on it and only in the past 2-3K has it started to grow squeaks and rattles. Some of that is do to me taking it apart and those i will fix myself.

As for being covered by warranty DEFINITELY they should be. But as others have stated make sure you take someone for a drive and have them hear what you are hearing otherwise they WILL come back with the "We Cant Reproduce The Problem"

I picked up a 11 Clubman S two months ago and have over 4000 miles. No squeaks at all. I would be persistent with the dealership to get the problems taken care of. I took mine to the dealership early this week because I wasn't happy with the fit and finish of the front bumper valance trim. The dealership couldn't fix it and actually broke the trim, so they sent me to their body shop. Body shop said the front bumper was installed crooked along with the hood. They fixed both; very happy with how the dealership handled my issue.

That last comment has me a little worried. I have a rattle just behind the driver's side door which I need to take care of (had since about 400 miles). Bigger issues for me are a gap between the driver's door window and the B pillar, and the scuff plate at the bottom of the passenger side door opening is unglued on one end.

So spent a hour or so on the weekend trying to find it myself. So couple things the kick plate on the door on both sides had come up. Glued it back down. On little rattle gone.

Got some really thing felt and used it to stop the door lock from rattling around like crazy. Rear cupholder was loose and rattling so I got that back in and put some rubber sealant on the joints to stop that from rattling.

opened the hood for the first time and found a lot of the rubber seals had come loose and were actually flapping around. Some sealant and a few clamps and that is back in place. Tightened down the air box which was a little loose.

Sill have a huge rattle in the dash. I pulled all the books and the like out of there and opened both doors to make sure its actually in the dash and it is. Its driving me crazy, you can hear it over the stereo at a pretty good volume.

If its not fixed I am selling the car, it has been nothing but a rattle trap since I got it.

MINIs are notorious for rattles, so this is not surprising to read. Mine had a few when I first got the car and the dealer fixed them right away. Since then it's developed a few more, and I'll be bringing it in to get them fixed as well. It's a crapshoot with these cars, unfortunately. The Service Manager at my dealer told me that I simply wouldn't believe how many rattle problems they have to constantly fix, and they're a big dealer (Nick Alexander).

It's frustrating to pay so much and get a cheaply put together car, but the dealer should fix them; And, like someone else said, you need to have the Service Manager ride with you.

Ok now officially laughing. FYI if you get really pissed at you car and hit it in the dead center of the dash in a fit of rage the squeak magically goes away. Quiet as a tomb now, other then the usua tire and suspension noises.

my dash rattle was the vent...

I've placed double-sided tape on either side of the vent after going for a ride and simply placing my finger on the vent **** on and off and it corresponded with the rattle... not happy with rattles at all !! Nabespin has elsewhere discussed this exact noise that stops when the central vent is touched... I'm going to attempt to follow his instructions to take care of it but holy smokes wahhhhh my wife's makes no such noise!!!!

cheers.

It keeps coming back no matter what I do, dealer/no dealer, trading it in tonight I don't have the patience to deal with this anymore. Sucks given that I like ~85% the rest of the car.

Will keep driving the truck for a few months then start looking for another Aston or something in that vein. My experiment with small and cheerful did not work.

My '10 S rattles at various times during the year. the tach from 1900-2100 rpms, the console whenever I accelerate, the passenger door speaker, the back seats when I pull into my apartment's parking lot. But I've gotten so used to them, that it really doesn't bother me anymore.

OP- It sounds like these are significant issues with the car and not really rattles and squeaks.

I'm feeling lucky after reading all these posts. Going on 4 years, 45,000 miles, and no rattles. I'd have a hard time living with one :-(

You ARE lucky!

I know and have known so many people with MINIs, and every single one of them complained about rattles!

My car, with less than 3500 miles, is going in for a fourth time for rattles in both doors. Pisses me off to no end.
