color doesn't matter. You can get one in any factory color from a dealer. But if the spoiler didn't come with the car, I was told by a dealer that you can only get the JCW spoiler.

I have been looking at the JCW spoiler, the black molded one, not the
foil looking wing.

I wonder if you have to get under the headliner to mount it ??

I can't speak to the "other" spoiler, but my JCW one was "glued" on...

Thanks for that info, i see in your My Mini photos,
that it glues on and you used tape during the setup.

That is exactly what i needed to know, thanks for the photo's

Can i ask if you are still happy with it, and it has stayed in place ?

Would you trust the glue-on to a car wash ?

Thanks

I didn't glue it myself, the dealership did it. The bond sets very quickly, but I drove it home with the tape on and let it set for several more hours.

The bond seems very solid. I've never had it in the car wash, but it has survived several Canadian winters as a daily driver. Didn't seem to be affected by the cold temperature.

Good luck with your decision...

When you say "has survived", do you mean it has sat outside the whole winter in the elements or in a garage when parked? Just curious since my local dealer told the JCW spoiler with installation was $480 what I probably wouldn't ever get back, and that's a mighty big plunge.

MightyNuts - I'm in Canada, so I'm not sure how pricing translates, but I paid for the part itself, painting (it comes in white and ready for paint), and finally installation. That was almost $700 CAD three years ago.

Jaque_Mate - Parked in a garage, but even still -30C temperatures were common. Will you get it back? Probably not.

Well, now you can actually order the spoiler in the color you need already painted according to MINIUSA's website. Honestly, the Des Moines dealer is so new, they haven't even put on yet and would have to look up how to install it.

I believe that the glue-on JCW Clubman spoiler is available in Black, Silver, and primer.

The install procedure is online somewhere...

It's a 2-part epoxy that bonds in less than a minute. I believe there is a template for placement, but once the sticky stuff is mixed, you only have that minute to tweak the positioning...

I only know of three that were done here. Mine was the second one (I believe), and all three of them seemed to have been done well.

Installation was buried in the cost, but I think it amounted to about 1.5 hours labour...

The Mini installation manual that comes with the spoiler states that installation should be about 1 hr.
Installation time
The installation time is approx 1.0 hours in total, but may vary depending on the condition of the car and the
equipment in it.
There is a separate "glue kit" that costs about $40 but the dealer's body shop should already have that stuff available. The "glue" kit comes in two large tubes that look like the window chalking you would use for your house. Each "glue" kit could do 20 or more spoiler jobs. The same stuff is also used on a number of different jobs so its usually just "shop supply". Any good body shop can do the install its not that difficult.

I have the instructions and can email them if you want them.

Does anyone have any pictures of the spoiler on their cars? Also, what is the cost of the spoiler fully installed in the U.S. at a MINI dealer? Thanx

Does it keep the dust off the back of the car?

It isn't difficult to figure out the cost... The spoiler is available in Black, Silver, and primer. The black and silver list for $400 through every Mini Dealer everywhere and is available for as low as $360 from Morristown Mini in NJ. The Primer version lists for $360 through every Mini Dealer everywhere and is available for $276 from Morristown Mini in NJ.

I'm not sure where you are exactly but there are several MINI Dealers in the Chicago area that have a price listed on their website. The best deal seems to be $514 installed at KNAUZ MINI 409A Skokie Hwy, Lake Bluff IL 60044 • Main Phone: (877) 219-8237 • Service: (877) 219-8237. Next best is $536 installed at BILL JACOBS MINI 2495 Aurora Avenue, Naperville IL 60540 • Toll Free: 866-516-8050 • Service: 866-516-8051. There are several other dealers in the area but this should get you started. At these prices you might as well just go to either of these dealers. Other dealers may match these prices if you ask.

Good Luck,

No, it doesn't keep dust off the back of the car.

thanx DJDRADDY. Appreciate that you actually took the time to look that up.

Mine started to come up after 2 years. That being said Ive taken my mini to speeds that most would never go (160ish). Im sure that contributed to the early demise. The gentleman that bought my spoiler after i took it off found a bonding agent that is supposedly significantly stronger for use on his clubbie...

I would definitely take it to the dealer on such a new ride. Let them have the problem and record it in case of future issues with it. My 2¢
