I'm looking at trading in my element for a clubman as well. Now that its winter here, the gas millage has plummeted an the ride has gotten really harsh on the winter tires.

If you don't need all of the extra room (carrying more than 2 bikes at once, bedroom furniture etc) I say go for it! I can't wait to get mine

Yeah I don't really need the extra room and the Gas is KILLING ME!!!! I live in southern california, which is a sprawl, and would love getting 30ish MPG!!! I still cant decide on color? White? Red?

If you don't need the room, then get the standard coupe!

Bad news I went to my local Mini Dealer. As it stands I owe too much on my Element and am a bit upsidedown on it. Basically I need 4K to make the deal. It looks like I'm going to have to wait a bit...The perfect Clubman was staring me in the face. White with a black top, premium package and bluetooth/iPod hookup. Any recommendations???

Ericjavier: that is so sad! When you are able to swing it, the bluetooth and iPod port are the best options I selected for mine.

Good luck and keep us posted-

Try to sell your Element outright and I had surprisingly good luck with my local Carmax dealer. If you have one near you it might be worth a try. $4 grand is a big hit but it's hard to put a price on MINI fun. It's like a really cool amusement park ride at your disposal. Good Luck!!!

Carmax is a great idea! We have always used them when we get a new car. Sometimes the dealers really low ball you on a trade-in offer. Carmax always offered us much more. When I got my MINI, my husband obtained a Carmax quote and brought it with us to the MINI dealer. I was pleasantly surprised that the MINI dealer matched the price on my trade-in.

EBAY!!!!!
I have sold 2 cars, Volvo s80 and a Ford Expedition on eBay, both sold in 5 day auction. Took Expo to Carmax and they offered NOTHING for it.

Bargain hard! We are a two Mini family... I just traded my Rav4 for a Clubman (hubby has the Cooper) and they wanted 4k from me too... I talked them down to less than half that though, and even got them to lower the payment on top of it. I spent all day at the dealership, but left with a Clubman and a deal I was happy with. (and I mean literally, we came at opening and left as they were closing)

Oh duh, just saw you wanted a Countryman. Yeah, no chance in dealing on that one yet. The dealership is hopping with people wanting a look at the Countryman!
