The first 500 miles

I'm loving my 2011 Clubman S. It's only been 500 hundred miles and I cant wait until I can start really driving it. Had the full front clear bra, and black vinyl wrap around the headlight rings, belt-line and the scoop/grill chrome done over the last week.

One thing though. Do your Turbo S models run really loud at start up? Mine is louder than the 140K mile car it replaced. Getting a loud ticking noise during the first 5 minutes or so after startup. Not sure if I'm just paranoid.

Congrats on your new Clubman S.

The 2011 S I just picked up doesn't make any extra noise upon startup - sounds the same pretty much all the time - and no ticking noise as you describe.

Got any pics of the mods you mentioned?

Yeah, mine's pretty noisy. I guess it could just be the injectors firing but I want to make sure it's not the valves. I'll post some pics after a wash.
It's been storming out here.

Yeah, hopefully its not a bad mechanical issue.
The clear bra and black vinyl was done by Elite Auto Films in Fremont, CA. The dealer didn't offer it and Elite does a really good job. I had the full hood, bumper, headlights, a-pillars and mirrors covered.
Going back to get the top of the rear bumper covered also for when I'm loading and unloading. Got the bra done the same week I got the car. The sound of gravel hitting my car on the freeway was making me uneasy.

Sorry to inform that you are posting your Clubman info on the Countryman section. Refer any of your future Clubman posts in the appropriate section if you are looking for feedback by other Clubman owners. It's located under 2nd Generation MINIs.

Got about 640 miles on mine now and idle sounds like a diesel. Just above idle it quiets down. It is so hard keeping the R P Ms down. First tank full got 34 mpg, not bad for a brand new engine. Very well built car so far and am happy with it.
My $.02 worth.

Tell me about it. I cant wait until the break in is over.

Dropping it off at the dealer tomorrow, they offered to keep it overnight so they can hear how it sounds in the morning. I'm guessing the sound is normal since a lot of us have reported the same issue. Just want to make sure everything is ok before I start a adding things to the car. My springs and shocks are coming in and will be getting an ECU tune as soon as it's broken in!

Sounds to me like you need to just go an do a road trip. Picked mine up on a Monday night drove to and from work until Friday, about 250 miles. Then in the next three days did a world win trip around New England for a total of 1350 miles.

Wow. That must have been awesome. My shop is booked for the next three weeks so I cant take off. I'm stuck trying to make my 4 miles to work as long as I can.

The dealer I bought from is 460 miles from my house so I took back roads and freeway home. The clubby now just turned 600.
I have been modding for a week now. Pictures soon.
Love the car.
