5 days old and a big rock chip

How soft is this paint? I never heard anything hit the car and there's a nasty rock chip on the hood ( or should I say bonnet) I went out to start giving it it's first detail and there it was I ordered some Dr chip we'll see how good that works if it does a crappy job looks like I'm getting stripes.

Our dealer offered us (among MANY other options) a Permaplate application, paint and interior protection.

She explained that any dents or small scratches, or any small tear on the seats were covered under that. It was "only" $11 a month added on our car payment so we decided to get it since we park in a small garage next to other neighbor's cars...

I'm kinda glad we did because it's not the first time I read here that the paint on MINI cars is very "fragile"

Look into clear bra for the front of the car. The dealer can install it or a tint shop in your town.

If your adventurous you can do it yourself. I did and am pretty happy. I took more time than most installers so I think I did a better job. Check out the link below.

After a run behind another guy, I had 28 rock chips. My fault for being so close to him. The clear bra didn't help, so on my wifes 10 Clubman, we left the clear bra off.

How did the clear bra "not help"? It's pretty tough stuff - I can't believe you got a rock chip through the film. Or are you saying that you got 28 rock chips on areas that *weren't* covered by the film?

I would think that the rock chips are only on areas where there was no clear bra.

The 3m clear bra is pretty darn tuff!!

My chip is up pretty high on the hood don't know if the clear bra would go up high enough to have saved it?

Bummer! Hate to hear that. I got 1 too the first week i had my clubman and it was way up on the hood and it dented the belt line.

They do make full hood clear bra. Mine stops past the headlights and I cut around my stripes so I can remove them whenever needed without taking the clear bra off.

I notice that too. I don't have a clear bra but on my 09, after a year of driving, the rock chips are high, well past where the bra would protect it. And where the bra would be, the paint is perfect. Is it just us or does anyone else notice this?

I drive mostly highway miles and am grateful for my clearbra.
