Tint on rear sides Question

So just had my 09 clubman tinted. Went as darker as I could legally go (in NC). Does everyone's rear side windows show a visable line where the "dot matrix" pattern is? Will tint not stick to that?

I forget what mine looks like, but I remember my tinter told me that there's a chance that the tint will not adhere cleanly to that portion of the window.

The dot matrix creates a small air pocket that cannot be taken out.

That's why OEM shades are the answer... No lines or "air pockets", just shade...

Yes...mine have the line too. The guy at the tint place said that there is nothing they can do about it.

What are "OEM shades"? Sorry if I'm being dense.

When I had my r50 tinted, the installer told me to go back the next day after the tint had sat outside for a while and go around with my finger and push really hard around the dot matrix. The line basically disappeared completely and stayed that way for years.

They look the same to me. I just got my side windows shades from Outmotoring.com. They work really well and I'm very pleased with them. They fit very well and really don't even require the clips. The only place I think that the clip will be required is for the Club door.

no problem with lines on side window for me

Hi there 2minimutts:

I had my 2010 Clubman tinted as dark as I can go in Florida, and there was no issue with the tint on the side windows. I see the lines there, but no problems with the tint since I had it done in May 2010.

The reason you can still see the dot matrix is that it is a slightly different shade of black than the window tint. It will never completely go away and actually shows up more the darker the tint you use

Some tinters lay a strip of black vinyl over the dot matrix before tinting if a customer is really concerned with it.

My tinter told me it would be a few days to get the water out from the install and to come back and they would press it back over the dots. He told me to come back within 2 week otherwise I won't work. I didn't both coming back and I did ti myself, press really hard and keep sliding around. He also told me that stopping while doing this isn't good but I had to in a few spots and noticed no problems. It looks alot better, especially when you use darker tint, the ring of dots becomes very visible. I hated how it looked before pressing and I have 15%.
