SS Mesh Grill?

Hi All,

Anyone have experience with a stainless mesh grill for the Clubman S. I think it would give it a cool old school sports car look. I have seen a few online but not many reviews. The M7 one looks cool, except for the price tag. Thanks.

I don't remember the price, but it was less than M7. For the top grille, Race Mesh takes the original plastic grille, removes everything but the outermost part of the plastic and then uses wires to tie the mesh to it. The bottom just attaches to the original using wire ties. Not the best process, but it works. I've replaced the chrome grille surround with black since this picture was taken. Race Mesh offered black, stainless, or chrome grilles. These are stainless. Be sure to that everything behind the grille is black (I used some flat black paint).

Thanks Bugeye,

I saw the Racemesh Grills they look pretty nice. How do you like yours. It looks like it's holding up well.

I like mine. I also like the original S grille. The Racemesh grille makes my car stand out a little and I really like the retro aspect of it.....that's what got me started on the idea.

Once you accept the design (that is, cutting the original top grille and using the "frame" or perimeter to attach the mesh to/and using wire ties to attach the bottom grille) the quality is good. The only problem that I had was that the wire they used to attach the mesh to the frame rusted pretty quickly. I had to replace it with stainless wire, which required removing the grille and re-tying the mesh on. Not a big deal, but for the price they should have used stainless wire.

Racemesh will also build grilles for the hood scoop and the rear bumper "grilles".

These seem easy enough to make. Anyone know where you can source SS mesh?

Is this something that you can possibly make yourself?

Look for wire mesh here:
http://www.bwire.com/

It will not look EXACTLY the same as the Clubman S grille, but it will be extremely similar. Just a though, all you would have to do was buy the wire cloth, forum it, cut it, and fasten it correctly. Could save a boatload of cash doing this project, and it would probably be a pretty fun thing to do and a neat way to customize the cars look.

Yeah worked great. Has withstood the test of time with no rust or any defects. The piece of mesh was really perfect.

I would go with the stainless steel.
