Barn Door Interior Paneling

Anyone having issues with their barn door interior paneling? Mine has been popping off since April when I bought my Clubman. Normally having no past issues with the dealership I had them check it. They said, "we've fixed it. It was just not locked in right." Well I'll be damned if a week later it didn't freaking pop off again!!! Really freaking annoying and Mini says there's nothing broke.
I am not about to just "deal" with it. I bought a brand new car so I wouldn't have mundane issues like this coming up.
Others having same issue? If so what fixed it?

Forget Mini dealer service -- use someone who actually cares and can do a great job. It may cost you a tiny bit but it'll save you the frustration of dealing with Mini itself after you buy one of their cars (which apparently need some help in the QC department). Obviously I'm a bit disappointed with this company!

Thanks, I had a body shop look at it while I was getting a fender fixed. They said the same thing. I've gone to that shop for lots of work and was really surprised.
It looks like for anyone else who has this issue that the paneling gets caught on the rubber trim around the door. Well, that's all I can think of cause after you clip the paneling into place nothing else would make it pop off.

I had this exact issue on my 08 and the dealer replaced it for free. It is under warranty and they are required to fix it. Some of the panels are warped and do not then lock in properly. That was the problem with mine.

The Infinity dealer (and not MINI) managed to fix mine. "Someone" was using the door pockets instead of the handles to close the barn doors.

I've had nothing but great service at my MINI dealer, Habberstad MINI, in Huntington, Long Island.

I'm sorry to hear that your dealer is not responsive to your needs, but that is not the case at all dealers.

Mine was doing the same thing..and it did take two trips to the dealer to fix. Just take it back! Tell them instead if just "popping" it back on to replace ALL the clips.

Miniclubman -- yes, that's very true. I was responding to the OP, who had a similar problem with his particular dealer.

It's easy to get angry when you're in a situation where the car is made poorly in some ways and the dealer is not responsive (which is what I'm running into with my brand new Clubman). People have different experiences in both realms, though, obviously!

THOSE LITTLE POCKETS, WHILE HANDY YOU CANNOT PUT ANYTHING WITH ANY WEIGHT IN THEM. Sorry, I put my hitch thingy in there, probably 5 lbs and the door skin popped off after shutting the barn door a couple times. A better way of attaching is recommended or a weight limit for the pockets.

Yup - that's one of the things I noticed when I bought my 2008 Clubman, was the apparently thin and cheap quality of the barn door panels. They're not nearly as solid as they should be.

Barn Door Panels Coming off

I've had the same problem and I live a long way from a Mini Dealership. The panels on the barn doors don't stay on my Clubman for more than one week of use. I don't put anything in the pockets but am finding that the clips don't hold the plastic on at all.

This gets really old and I have just ended up taking the panelling off of that door since apparently I have lost a few of the clips that hold it on.

Definitely a bad design and I'm tired of getting it "fixed" because it hasn't stayed that way. I have tried to look for another way to get these things to stay on but haven't successful yet.

try a bead of clear silicone adhesive caulk in the contact area of the panel and the door frame. It shouldn't come off after that unless you want it too. Stuff worked wonders in my RV

My driver side barn door pops off at least twice a month. I've had the clips replaced at two different dealerships, but they still pop loose. I have heard the idea that Gorilla Glue would do the trick, but IDK.

Break it, then take it back to dealer

So I eventually got so fed up with the dealership telling me it was fixed, it took about three times. I broke the damn thing for good. I broke the whole door actually. I "attempted gently to persuade" the panel back into place after it popped off once, and kicked it in. That broke not only the hydraulic hinge, but the clips as well. Took to dealership and told them fix it now, or I want to send this car back. They spent a while replacing every single part they could think of, and then about 30 mins opening and closing the door over and over to try and repeat a falloff. It hasn't moved since. Granted this is a drastic approach, and I wouldn't recommend for all, but if you are as pissed as I was, do this. They replaced the whole panel and after confirmed it was warped. So glueing, and replacing clips won't do the trick as them to replace the whole panel.

On a side note...my Wifes 2011 Clubman has an ever so slight dent in the drivers side rear door. It is about a 1/2" long and I believe is from a tree branch in a storm.

I was going to pop off the rear interior plastic panel and see if I can "massage" it out, before I spend $150 for paintless repair.

I wasn't sure how to get the rear door interior panels off....is it as simple as just pulling them off?
