2010 S Clubman Front License Plate Mounting

Hi everyone,

I just joined these forums and officially picked up my 2010 S Clubman as of yesterday (12.08.2009)... Horizon Blue with Silver Trim for those who care.

The dealer told me that instead of drilling into my front bumper (NJ requires both plates), I could buy something that screws into the Tow Hook. I found this:

https://new.minimania.com/web/Item/N.../InvDetail.cfm

Just a few questions.
- Can I assume that the 2008, 2009, and 2010 Clubmans are the same in the front and this would work for me?
- Is this a good place to order from, or is there somewhere cheaper/more reliable (or a different version of this product entirely)?

I only saw this from other threads.
http://www.gominigo.com/NHLPB-MINI.html

Is that one more preferred?

Thanks in advance.

GoMINIGo is a great company and personally like it better than the one on Minimania. I purchased the one from Craven Speed and like it real easy to install and lots of different positions to set it at.

+1 on GoMiniGo
I bought their mount because I'm running my Euro plate and needed enough space to mount my regular plate and shift it over.

To answer your question. Yes the part will fit 2008, 2009, 2010 MINI's (all models) with no problem.

The dealer didn't even wait for me to tell them I wanted to get a towhook mount. When I picked up my car, it already had the two ugly holes drilled in the front. I wish MINI would just supply a towhook mount with the car when it's shipped to states that demand the front license plate.

With most dealers you have to tell them ahead of time not to drill the bumper. With some dealers you have to threaten not to accept the car and/or bring a tow hook bracket ahead of time. Some are insistant on drilling. Probably got harrassed by the state, or local police. Areas that get revenue from red light cameras can be very active in enforcing the front license plate law.

I have the GoMiniGo bracket. It is good. All stainless steel, and has adjustable height.

Just ordered the Cravenspeed mount. Looks like they are all about the same. Didn't even see the gominigo one before I bought it, but I prefer the slight design aesthetic of the one I bought.

I tried the CravenSpeed mount for a while... But I honestly didn't like the way it looked on my particular Clubman.

I also found that it lends the license plate itself to accidental damage - so be sure to take it off prior to going through car washes (or taking it in for service).

In the end, I was quite content with the center-mounted tags... I know pretty much every vehicle on the road has this setup, but that's where the similarities end when you're talking Clubbies.

although not in the center, I think the plate looks fine off to the side.

Couple days. Although I'm only about 60 miles from where they are located (just outside Seattle, WA).
