Seat Height Adjustment Handle

EVERY time i go to get out of Cheffry, my right pant leg gets caught around the SHAH. I have now ripped three pairs of pants. Anyone else have this problem ?

No, I don't even see how this is possible really at least on my car. The handle sits only about 1/4" from the side of the seat and the handle is about 3" back from the front of the seat.

I don't have superlong legs like most guys do. As a result, I have to roll up my jeans and they get caught on the handle all the time. I now make it a habit to unroll them before getting in the car, even if my mom tells me it makes me look trashy.

It's happened to me too! I was wearing dress pants with a cuff on the bottom, and it got caught both times I got out of the car.... nearly tripped getting out lol... luckily it didn't rip though. You just gotta be extra careful when getting out if you have a fold on your pant leg.

Happens to me all the time too! I haven't ripped any pants yet but I am sure that time will come very soon. Makes you wonder what the designers were thinking when they put the handle there?

Really? I got it caught once, noticed it was there and work around it. (I'm 6'4" and I wear dress slacks to work everyday, loose/baggy jeans on days off) I cannot believe 3 pairs of pants have been ripped? Is that truth or an exaggeration?

Given it is the design, you clearly know its there, the fix would be to be more careful so you don't rip anymore pants!!

With all due respect, the first ripped pair is understandable, the 2nd and 3rd... are on you. Not sure if this design is worth a "Be extra careful" thread, or having to roll-up pants(??) to drive your car. It's worth a mental note to not get your pants caught on the handle.

Im 6'2" with long legs and my pant cuff gets caught nearly everytime i get out. Percentage wise three rips is almost nothing. Im pretty good at catching it now and pulling my leg back to unwrap. All three rips happened in the first two months i owned the car.

For what its worth, im wasnt "complaining", I was just interested too see if this happens to anyone else. Apparently, it does. That being said the handle should prolly be on the other side of the seat, or not curve around the front of the seat so much.

Never happened to me either. Is the handle on the Clubman open on one end?

i also have the seat as low as possible. Russ - the handle is not "open". what happens is the cuff of my right pant leg gets wrapped around the handle. I am sure it has to do with the way i get out of the car.

I just don't wear pants with cuffs =P Or when I do.. I'm conscious of it to be careful to lift my right leg out instead of dragging/stepping out normally.

I don't think I could get my leg in a position to catch my pants on that handle if I tried, it would require some serious contortions. (You're talking about the handle that pumps the seat up and down?) Needless to say, it's never happened to me.

Happens to me at least twice a week. I wear suits every day and I've been lucky to not rip anything. It IS aggrevating, and I've been tempted to remove the handle to see if there is some way to shorten the lever so it is closer to the seat. The end of the handle actually goes inside my pants leg and catches the whole leg, not just the cuff.

I'm 6'4" and have a bad left knee, so I have to pivot around and put my feet down and then stand up (likewise I sit down and then pivot around into the car) so I don't twist me knee, so perhaps that has somethng to do with it, but it is VERY annoying!

My pant leg gets snagged on it quite often, but I don't have enough power to rip anything It's just a small nuisance.

No "ripping" pants for me - dress slacks every day, suits once in a while and jeans on Fridays (at least until today).

Maybe because I am 5'6" (mini is not so mini for me!) don't have so many problems

No pants ripped for me, but I get the cuff caught often. I think it happens because of the way I get out of the car. I open the door with my feet still extended and then draw both feet towards me. The left foot then slides near the side of the seat on the way out the door. If I miss with that one I have a second chance with the other leg. I've been getting in and out of cars for too many years to retrain on this.

Never had this problem on my old Golf TDI height adjust handle, but newer VWs with manual height adjust catch me every time if I don't stop and think first.

in a convo with my MA last week about this subject, I learned that she constantly has this problem as well. She also told me the story of the first time it happened, causing her to actually fall over almost breaking her neck.

if it's that much of an issue I'd remove it or pad it with a seat belt pad or such to prevent catching
