22k and we are on the wear bars

Kozmo is getting a set of 4 Bridgestone Potenza's put on as I type. I have them on another of my cars and I really like them. Put a couple of cans of seal and air along with an electric tire pump in the boot .
I'll let you know how they perform

So I just got back from playing in the twisties.
Some thoughts:
If you have runflats go toss them in the garbage even if they are brand new.
Non runflats let the car accelerate noticeably quicker and made me change my braking and acceleration points through the twisties on a road that I know like the back of my hand.
Did I say toss the runflats??? Lol

I have 18,000+ miles on original R.F.'s, don't care for them but as I'm to cheap to throw out perfectly good tires, will replace them as soon as needed so I'm interested in how the Bridgestone Potenza's work out for you.

I joined this club after I got a staple in one of my run flats which was not patchable. I got Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports. As with pretty much any other non-run flat tire, they are quieter, ride better, and improve the handling. I am very, very happy with these.
running Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid's 195/55R16 87H M+S
So far they seem to be quieter, give a smoother ride, slightly better fuel mileage and quicker acceleration [less rotating weight due to thinner sidewalls] Perfomance seems to be a bit better in the twistities but not spectacularly so.

Ditching the runflats
OK, so I only have about 250 miles on the justa and I am a cheapo as well but has anyone found & put a spare in the boot (in place of that piece of styrofoam)? I assume that there are multiple threads on this.........
Just do a search.
Spare
Yes, my '09 MCC does have room that is taken up by a styrofoam block with the jack accessories. If your Cooper came with 15" wheels you got a spare, if it came with anything else (16 and up) you got run flats & no spare. Had I ordered I probably would have gone w/ the 15's and a spare but I took one off the showroom. I can only assume that there are spares out there that will fit in the space and work in a pinch even if I have 16" wheels.
ok I fianlly got a clear run up Black rd from hwy 17 to hwy 35. 6 miles of twisties with 2200' of elevation gain, speed ranges from 25 in the really tight hairpins to around 60 on the short straights. It's one of those 100% concentration runs with blind corners no guardrails and nice drop offs if you screw up.
my impression of the tires
Hard acceleration: yep you get a searching grabby wander on the rough road surface but it is manageable. it is really quick to get up to the I don't want to go any faster if I want to make the next turn speed.
Cornering: Noisy but not a skidding sound. Holds the road well with a predictable drift, it never felt like I was going to loose it downshifting then accelerating hard through the tight hairpins. I felt I could push it on the less severve turns.
Braking: really nice grip, predictable going from 5th to 2nd [60 to 25] with braking setting up for the hairpins
overall its a very nice performing tire for a mud and snow rated tire; which is what I need living up here on the ridgeline

Agreed. I'm at 21k miles and gonna get a set of 17" wheels and keep with remaining tread on the RF for bad winters.
Hey the Conti ProContact SSR runflats on my 09 are 10 times better all the way around than the Dunflops that were on my 2005. It's called evolving tire technology or something like that.
My 08 Clubman S has 14,000 miles on the factory Conti runflats. I have absolutely no complaints about them and they seem to be wearing very well. I've heard that the Conti's are the best performing of the various runflats MINI has used. I would love to hear from someone in my area (Maryland/DC) who has pulled them off their car when they were new and wants to get rid of them.
Just something to ponder: I took a good look at my tires and the outer edge about 1/4 inch in seems to have ever-so-slight accelerated wear. I'm not worried now but I wonder if this will be a problem soon. I'm at 12,000 miles now with probably 10,000 of that being highway driving.
They noted daddy moaning about the tires and chanted "Daddy's car has Dunlop Disease!"
