has anyone installed alta's axhaust on their clubmna yet. More importantly any videos they can post of the sound, then some info on the sound inside the cabin. With a family I need to think about, I need to make sure its family friendly..

 

We put the Alta exhaust on the kids R56, but I was holding off to see if anyone else puts one on their Clubman. But it's still on my radar screen.

 

I went with the Milltek exhaust and I'm very happy with it. Sound is quite mellow I can only hear it on the interstate at about 80 slight as it is.

 

I've had the Alta on for several weeks and I love it. The sound is very mellow and does not drone at highway speeds. The install was pretty straight forward with no fitment issues, but I still need to realign it a bit to get it centered in the valence. Sorry, no photos or videos.

 

Let me tell ya about ALTA exhausts for those of you that don't know. My kid got an ALTA exhaust for his 07 MCS for Christmas. One Friday night about 8:30 PM he got a wild hair and decided to put it on. So he went up to our shop and put it on. He brought a girlfriend along (moral support mostly) and had all the tools he needed. He was home by 11 PM with the exhaust on. I swear I didn't expect him before well after midnight. And , it sounds awesome. I'll be ordering my ALTA exhaust for the Clubman in the very near future.

 

Hey guys and gals. I JUST got my new project car ( Clubman ) and I will be doing an exhaust (and a ton of other stuff) right away! I will be getting more sound clips, video and simple DIY instructions up too. Hopefully by the end of the weekend!

I have the Alta exhaust on my R55 and LOVE it! I will get some vids of it tomorrow on my day off. It sounds great!

That would be a HUGE help to me! Saves me from having to attach a R55 S DP on my car (JCW uses a different DP and would affect the sound) just to shoot that video! See you tomorrow!

 

Besides there is no room for improving the JCW's sound.. they sound awesome just stock!

 

I know on the JCW Cooper that I have, that the ALTA system made it sound even better. Burbles and pops galore!

I assume the Clubman JCW will be the same, but I will know (and report) for sure to the group shortly.

Has there been issues with the Turboback exhausts recently? It's been on my list, and now I see your little disclaimer on the bottom of the screen. Now I'm having reservations on getting it done. I have the 2009 JCW. Can you clear this up a little?

 

Totally understand. There are very few problems with the system on any model, JCW or S. Of those that get a CEL, 95% are solved with a mechanical solution we provide. There are unfortunately a very limited though that can't be solved. While the light is an annoyance, it won't affect the performance of the car. Plus the ALTA Tuning Tool coming out in the future, will resolve it for all clients affected.

So you can still buy with confidence. Don't hesitate to ask me any specifics though! Thanks again!

Here is a vid from inside the cabin. I would definitely say it is a mellow tone. No bumblebee sound here! At idle it is just a tad bid deeper. I will post more as the day goes on!

I am thinking about making my first modification on my Cooper S Clubman.
Can you give me your pitch about why I should choose the Alta sport exhaust system over this one by Borla:

I can think of a couple of reasons: you are a fellow Oregonian and I like buying local; plus the Alta system is cheaper.
But the Borla system says it gives a 10% HP boost. Is my math correct that such a boost would be about 17 HP over your 10 HP?

1) 17HP is closer to a crank rating on ours as well. The 10HP is at the wheels. So no real difference there.

2) You can come by (Make sure ALTA_Jarid is there with the Clubman S first via PM or phone) and listen and go for a ride ahead of purchase.
