It finally happened...

I've had my Clubman S for about a week and a half. It's been the talk of my elementary school. The kids and staff love it But today I got my first approach by a total stranger in a parking lot. Heading into the grocery store, a nice lady walked up and said, "Hey, that's a clubman!" I figured she was a MINI owner. Turns out her husband is a big fan and has been wanting one for a while now. I popped open the barn doors to show her how they worked and all the room inside. "It beautiful! You must be having a blast!" I sure am

I had a lot of that last summer when my baby was new, and still get it from time to time. The car definitely stands out.
[Its biggest fan is me. I turn and starer at it every time I leave the parking lot.]
Nice MINI. I've never seen Horizon Blue. Are you going to put some high res photos in your gallery? [Please...]

Congratulations on your Clubman and the resulting adoration. Are you a teacher? The kids at my school love the "little car." We have one other MINI teacher and it gives me a silly little morning boost when we're able to park next to each other.

What really surprises them is when you quickly pull out two kids, a stroller and a big diaper bag from the clubman. It's kind of like a magician pulling rabbits out of his hat!

Yesterday I was told at a gas station "man, sweeeet car" and then "does it ride reeeal smooooth?" I told him it rides like a sports car and not a luxury car, just how I like it -- nice and rufffff!

I'm an elementary PE teacher. The kids at school knew of my love of MINIs, I had a MINI lanyard for my whistle and a cut out of a Red Sox MINI on my office door. So when it showed up in the parking lot all the kids were asking about it. I even had a middle schooler come into the building to tell me my car was "sick!". That's a good thing

TorchMINI, I'll get some more pix in my gallery this weekend. It's been snowing or raining since I picked it up. Don't know about high res pix though, I'll set my camera to the highest setting. Will that work?

I finally got my first approach by a stranger just the other day (had my Clubman since 2/27/09) when I was loading my turtle's new 90 gallon tank in the back. This older lady came up to me and said "my goodness... that seems quite a bit longer than what I'm used to seeing! My friend has a purple MINI".

I also had a UPS driver gawking at me this morning

But no waves yet! All in good time, I suppose.

As I was driving down the 1-5 in Everett last week I overtook a red Cooper S. Shortly afterwards he overtook me; as he went past he'd got his blackberry out and was taking a photo of our car

I spotted 2 old blue-haired ladies in my rear view mirror. They were
driving a faded green '66 beetle. They were tailgating me so bad at
one point, I couldn't even see the front end of their car.
When they stopped behind me at a red light they continued to
nudge closer and closer. They were straining their eyes to read
the Mini wings and the Cooper badge on the rear of my Clubman.
I read their lips. They were saying: "I can't read what it says",
"What the hell kinda car is that?", and "Isn't that the cutest thing?".

I also had a truck driver pull up to me at a light and say:
"Nice custom job you did stretching that Mini!"

Thanks, Littleone. I have been collecting Mini pictures off of this forum and Flickr, as well as my own visits to the dealers. They look so good on the 48" HD TV with my 'Apple TV' slide shows. If the picture is a megabyte or more, it fills the screen nicely. I have a sub-set collection of all the blues.
Check out my HC in my gallery :-)

It sure is nice of you to take the time and answer peoples questions about the Mini! When one is vacillating on whether to buy one, testimonials are very helpful.

I'm still debating whether to buy one or not - it's not the car but I live 300 miles from a dealer and I worry about getting repairs or parts if needed. Kind of a reliability issue I guess. I'd like to find another owner in my area so I can get some advice - hopefully he's as nice as you guys!

I just bought a Clubman S last week...whoohoo. Wife gets it and I still have my '04 S with all the goodies that make it go fast and furious...though a Clubman S is nothing to scoff at when it comes to torque. I just love MINI's!

It finally happened to me at a stoplight. A couple in a Jetta asked if the car came with the barn doors or if I did it aftermarket, because he had never seen a Clubman before. He also asked the name of the car and the price. Then, the light turned green, but the man's wife wanted to know if it came in "S", which I told them it did as they zoomed off. It took me for surprise when he honked, because in my area there are a quite a few Coopers, and no one seems to wave in my area. I was sitting next to a red 1st gen Cooper at a red light last week, and the women would not even look at me.
