Panic button?

So I was in my garage yesterday and pushed the trunk release button on my remote and nothing happened (I expected the right barn door to pop open). So then I held down the trunk release button and the alarm went off and it was piercing! I have the alarm option on my car.

1) Isn't the trunk release button supposed to pop open my right barn door?
2) If you have the alarm, is the trunk release button supposed to double as a panic button?

You are right about panic mode: see p 25 of the manual (hold barn door unlock for more than two seconds...)

To activate remote door release, I have found I need to hold the button for about a second, and the right door will pop open upon releasing the button. Made the mistake of holding it too long once, as you did. LOUD!

Wow, so clicking the barn door release button does nothing...hold it for two seconds and the alarm busts your ear drum...hold it for one second exactly and it does what you want...delicate stuff.

Strange...I know I've held it down longer than a second and nothing happened...wonder if we don't have the alarm feature?? I hate car alarms anyway...

Hey, thanks. I've had my 08 since July and after trying to open the boot remotely and failing, I thought it couldn't be done. I have the convenience package and have always just used the door handle button to open the boot. It's nice to know I have the option of opening the barn door on approach. I have the alarm as well and there is enough difference between the open function and the panic function that I don't think it will be a problem

One thing i have noticed is that you have to be behind the car and fairly close (2 feet or so) to get it to work. The proximity detectors for that are in the right hand door and will not pick up the signal if to well if you are beside the car.

i don't have comfort access or the alarm, and i can open my barn door from across the street. i hold the button in and after a second or to the pops open, regardless of whether i let go of the button or not.

hmm...

Remote does not work for rear barn doors if you have comfort access pkg.

It works for me (I have comfort access) if I hold for about one second and then release. The door does not open until after I release the button. I have done this several times now.

Perhaps you are "clicking" rather than holding briefly as otterdad is saying? That's how it works with comfort access for me...

Been there, scared the crap out of my date.
It's a unique alarm sound, isn't it.
