Questions about factory build

Does anyone know if they build the different models in different factories or do they build them in one and allocate time for each model? I'm asking this because I ordered my Clubman non s on 1/6/8 and am told it is scheduled to be built around the 26th. Then I read other posts and see people who order and their car is built the next week. What gives?

My understanding is one factory. I think each dealership gets slots. Your dealership might not have had any earlier slots.

..To expand, I think maybe my dealership had some early January slots set aside in case they sold a lot of cars off the lot during December (when the factory was closed). When they had a slow December, I think they put my build in instead of one of the builds they were going to put in for a dealership car.

Perhaps your dealership had a busy holiday and needed it's immediate slots to replenish dealership stock. Or, perhaps they just got boned with bad slots.

One flexible factory that could have a hardtop, convertible and clubman one right after the other. As others have indicated it's all about allocation slots for dealers.

That's not even a very flexible auto factory. Check out this video of Ford's Brazil factory. http://info.detnews.com/video/index.cfm?id=1189

I didn't know that tours were available there. We're planning a trip to the UK in the next 2 years, and must include this stop!

Talk to your dealer. They may be able to help you out on getting a tour if you have any problems.....
