Just completed first road trip

I've had my MCCS since August 11th and just completed my first trip out of town, went from Phoenix area to Albuquerque and returned. Approximately 950 miles total.
A few observations about my Mini (manual transmission) it averaged 36.8 miles per gallon and this is with about half freeway and half secondary roads. Tried to stay off the freeway as much as possible. Speeds were from 65 to 80 most of the time.
Seats very comfortable for both my wife and myself. For the most part ride was nice EXCEPT for when going over repair patches on I-40 close to Window Rock and into New Mexico. I will get rid of the run flats when they wear out. The headlights are average at best, they remind me of my 1974 260Z Datsun's lights. I expected better.
When getting in the Mini the morning after arriving in Albuq the low tire warning was one, checked all tires and they all were at 35psi. Reset and no more problems.
Wheels, front especially get coated with lots of brake dust, as bad as a 95' Jaguar XJ6 I had. I didn't expect the car to track as well as it did on the road.
I now have a little over 3000 miles on the vehicle and it averages 32.4 miles per gallon in town. Outside of the sensor for tire pressure no issues at all.
Overall very very happy with the vehicle.
Most places we stopped someone would come up and ask about the vehicle, only one person knew it was a Clubman.
We saw 4 Minis, total coming and going on the trip, but alas no Clubman's. And in Phoenix the same thing still haven't seen another one on the road. Its almost like driving my Z as far as seeing another one on the road.

Glad to hear you're so pleased with the car, um, I mean Clubman.

It's nice to hear others are as happy with their choice.

One note on the lights. You may need to adjust them. There are insturctions here on NAM somewhere. Also some of it depends on the type of lights you have as well. I have the Xenon's i my car and they were much better than the halogen lights on the loaner i had.

I have had mine since early May (7800 miles) and i still get comments and questions. And there are 4 dealers with in two hours of my house so there should be more than there seem to be.

Glad to hear the trip was great, I am figuring you have the regular headlights and not the xenons? Since I do not like Xenons in my rear view mirror I decided against them. I wonder if there are any other type of aftermarket headlight upgrades other than HID that will help?

Thanks for your comments and story. It's helpful to hear these sorts of things from actual owners. What sort of tires will you replace the run flats with? Just curious.

Did you take any pictures of your Clubman along the way? Scenic views? if so, I'd love to see some.

We just did our first big trip too. KC to ABQ to Grand Canyon and back (2700 miles)...the car drove wonderfully and gave us 34.6 MPG overall (It's an automatic). The run-flats are terrible...may have to do a couple of driving schools to burn them up FAST. And yes everybody loved the Clubman...I had to give rides to all my cousins at our family reunion.

I'll agree. All my vehicles have Silverstars except the MINI. It has the Xenon. I think you'll probably see a big difference in the Silverstars

Yes I have the regular headlights, darn it. And as for what kind of tires I'm going to buy, haven't thought about it yet.
I won't replace them until the present tires are worn enough to justify it, will also change to a black rim at the same time.
Does anyone have an estimate of how many approximate miles you get on the run flats?
