Did I get free front fog lights?

So I didn't order front fog lights and have no switch for fog lights on my switches. But when I look at the front of my car...there they are...foglights. What am I missing?

Fog lights are standard in the 2009 Clubman S.

The front fog lights and parking lights share the same housing. The parking lights are in the top 1/3rd or so of the housing and the fogs reside in the bottom 2/3rds of the housing. So when looking at them it seems like that all R56 and R55's have the front fogs, but that not the case. There may even be a bulb in the lower portion of the housing (not sure as mine has front fogs, so I don't know if theres a bulb in or not), but the real question is can you get that bulb to light up if there is one present. I would say that no you did not get fog lights, it's just a quirk of the new MINI's and how/where they placed the bulbs.

P.S. On Clubmans the rear fog lights are a similar thing too. Even if you don't order the rear fog, the light is there, mine even has a bulb in it, but I don't have anyway to turn it on, just a bulb in a socket. I would venture to say that the wiring is all hooked up too, and all that would be needed to make it functional would be to get the switch panel with the rear fog light switch and have the dealer program the car to tell it that the rear fog is there.

P.S.S The cuise control is the same way, all MINI's have all the control systems in place that are needed for the system to work, but without the buttons on the stearing wheel you don't have cruise control.

trbasil is correct.

The housing and wiring is there (bulbs are probably there as well) the only difference is the panel switch and programing.

You could buy the new switch panel and rockers to do the front an back fogs for about $100-$120 and tehn take it to the dealer to have i programed, as even with just the switches in place it will not work.

This thread will give you more info on the subject. It is for the rear fogs on a R56 but the data is the same for the R55 rear and and adding the front at the same time would take the same work just a different toggle.

According to the website, front fog lights are standard (at least on the Clubman S).

Thanks for asking this, Parkerton! I was drying Pelle with a microfiber towel, and noticed what I thought were two bulbs in these lights, and began to ask myself the same question! I'm considering adding CC by buying the MFSW switches, and may as well fulfill the fog switches as well..only 1 visit to reprogram both features may save me a few bucks.

The "parking lights" housed in the upper part of the fog lights are also used for DRLs.
