mud flaps on clubman
I ordered Carmine on 19 Feb, took delivery 7 April. When I ordered, mudflaps were part of the order. When I picked him up, no mudflaps - "On back-order."
After several phone calls, they finally came in so I took Carmine in to get them installed Monday. Said it would take 1 1/2 hours. After 4 hours they came out and said it was ready - their first install of mudflaps on a clubbie, and was a pain. When I looked at them, the fronts were ok, but the rears - NOT.
They stuck out from the fender flares a good 1/2" and there was an added piece of plastic between them and the fender flares, plus the adhesive strips on the flaps wasn't affixed . They said they installed it exactly as prescribed by MINI. I said, "no way" and the service mgr. agreed, so, back to the shop and 2 hours later they looked fine - removed the extra plastic and used the adhesive strips. 6 1/2 hours.
If you're having them installed, be wary...

I have found that the tech's at some dealers could be out done by a monkey.
I have looked at the Mini Written instructions for the rear mud flaps and it can not be that difficult. the only thing is in the instructions i saw it did not tell you to take the wheels off which it seems to me needs to be done. Same for the front.
I have installed mud flaps on other vehicles and at most an hour is all it should take to do four.

I have the mud flaps installed on my Clubman, and the ones in the rear are quite "loose" - you can easily move them front-to-back and side-to-side without much difficulty.
Do yours feel "solid"? I'm thinking it's time for the dealer to take another shot at installing these...
Thanks!

I guess "sturdy" is a relative term. However, keep in mind that they are a pliable rubber, so they will bend and move if you grab them. However, they don't feel like they are going to fall off. The fronts attach much more solidly than the rears.
Mine are VERY effective at keeping roadspray and such off of the sides. Even after the HEAVY downpours we have been experiencing here in the east, they car remains clean looking. The dirtiest part of my car is always the roof - the sides of the car stay suprisingly clean.

My back mudflaps...(okay, the mudflaps on the back of the Clubman ) are pretty loose. The dealer installed them, but it's like there needs to be a third attachment point and they're only attached top and bottom.
Lady G: If you and Mr. Lady G. want to bring them down our way, along with some cold beverages, I'll install them.
Oh, bring the instructions...

My MA talked me out of getting the mud flaps. told me the cost to install was insane - something about several hours of work and if my memory serves me correctly - well over $400 to install.
if someone knows where I can find the installation instructions please point me in the direction of where they are. I'll do the work myself.

Does anyone know what they cost from the parts department?

Well, wif the cold ones, the offer still stands! I'm sweating my bazoo off in the garage with car wax even as we speak.
Well, actually, the offer still stands without the cold ones...

You won't need the instructions. I didn't have any and still managed to fumble around and install them in about an hour. The dealer is probably including removing the rear fender liners, whereas I just pulled the corner down to get to one of the attachment screws (this is all very clear when you start looking at how they install).
For the rears, yo will need to remove the wheels. For the fronts, just turn the wheels to get them out of the way (for DS turn to left and vise-versa).
My set (f&r) was less than $120 out the door at my dealer.
