Father's Day Present installed...

Saturday afternoon I installed the Kuda mount for my Garmin Nuvi 760.

I followed the instructions from Larrydata, Unixgal and lacning74 in the Nav/AV forum. Only a couple of expletives for about 3hrs of fiddling - not too bad coming from me

I used an srf file from BBCooper - unfortunately it's an R53 image but it's pretty close (don't suppose anyone has a clubbie srf file yet do they?)

I have been considering doing something similar but was wondering what kind of space (read inches) is there from the face of the Gamin to the steering wheel?

My wife's running around in the Clubbie right now but when she gets back I'll measure it w/the wheel telescoped out and in for you.

Nice work Rexicon, look foward to the measurements. If I installed it, double the time factor and triple the bad words!

The face of the unit is approx 3 1/2" from the back of the steering wheel when the wheel is fully retracted (into the dash) and about 5" when fully extended (away from the dash). I haven't yet had to use the unit "in anger" but it's close enough to make entries very easy.

The photos look pretty identical but there is a difference trust me...

Thank you for posting this, I have read through the manual a couple times, but I did not know that the steering wheel telescoped. Must have missed that part.

Thanks for the measurements. Now i just have to get the Kuda mount and the GPS. I have a cheap GPS cost me $89.00 on special at staples but it is very difficult to use. Touch screen works Ok but the way to enter an address or destination is horrible.

The 760 is pretty damn good. I was surprised at how easy the input commands are and the DB is very good at finishing up your entries which really helps.

That said - I'm second guessing whether I needed to spend that much coin on something I'm not using very often. At least I got it from Costco during their father's day promo. FYI - Sam's club has a good selection if you or a friend are a member.

Where does the power come from for the Nuvi wit the Kudo mount? Is there a way to use the factory Nuvi cable? Or do you have to run a power cable down to the cig lighter? Thanks...
