Why did you pick your Clubman color combo?

It's story time.
1) Why did you pick your color combo?
This is always fascinating.
2) What's your Mini's name and is there a story to the name?
3) Populate your gallery, please. I click and find blank galleries too often.

Long and rambling stories with third party references will be read but not graded for content or spelling.

Me: I was ordering a MCs...right before hitting the ENTER button and placing the order, I stopped my Motoring Assistant(Sales Dude).
I was looking outside at three Clubman(s?) lined up for their new families.
Sparkling Silver and Black jumped out at me.
I said, "Wait, cancel the MCs. We're going with the ClubmanS."
Time flew as I quickly argued with myself about Red/Black, PepWhite/Black and SaprklingSilver/Black...the last looked the cleanest and my last two cars were red and white.

We brainstormed on names when my ClubmanS came home with me and green lizard came up because at dusk, it looks green.
After that, it morphed into Dragon Wagon.

I agree with you that in some lighting, the SS does look greenish, but its very mild and I actually like it looking greenish.

I went to the dealer with the BRG/BLK combo in my head. That had always been my vision of my MINI. My teen son and husband did not like the green at all, the MA helped them talk me out of it saying the dark color was hard to keep clean and was like black here in NC, meaning it gets very very hot. I then wanted PW/BLK, but dh said he sees so many PW ones that he wanted something a bit more unusual. Being that me and dear husband are sharing this midlife crisis car, we came to an agreement on Sparkling Silver. It was just a little different from colors I have seen before, seemed quite lovely when paired with black roof/trims. I choose the hot chocolate lounge leathers inside which will hopefully bring out the champagne/gold hues in the SS. I have never been a fan of silver cars, so I hope I see less of the silver and more of the brown/gold/green accents.

To be honest tho, I don't care what color the MINI is, they are all striking. I would have taken a lime green and yellow striped one and been happy.

Her name, Maggie Mae, is taken from an old song the Beatles played to warm up, way back even to when they were Quarrymen. Its not the reference of her being a prostitute robbing sailors that I like, but that when I hear the Beatles of the Get Back era singing it, they are very happy and mostly just goofing off. I hear a lot of fun and smiles in their voices and this makes me happy. I am a Beatles fan, of the extremely obsessive variety. So much so, I ordered a Euro plate today LMW 28IF, I can't wait to get her all blinged out!

Calico, you stumped me on that Beatles plate LMW28if.
You don't need a front plate in Carolina?

Maggie Mae??? I think of a Rod Stewart tune on that one.

Yeah, Rod's song was a bit more mainstream! LMW 28IF, cover of Abbey Road, Paul is dead...that whole deal

ETA forgot to say that in NC only a rear plate is required.

Calico, did you viper stripe yours? Hood to tail?
The dealer quoted me over $400, so I went $100 factory Bonnet.

Dragon, yes we ordered the sport stripes on bonnet/boot, but no roof stripes. Sport stripes were $125 and install was $125, so totalled $250.

Calico, it will be absolutely 'gorgeous' , I assure you.
I'm sure you've had no second thoughts!
I REALLY liked the viperson the bonnet and barn doors.
It's been since 5/12 since my Clubman(DragonWagon) was given to me and every day I not how beautiful she is. The public agrees. The head main. man at my office came in to tell me how gorgeous she is and how may people put finger prints on the windows. "What color is that?" is the most asked question.
He asked the final deliver price so he could tell the people asking him.
There are plenty of options on small wagons out there and the 30+ mpg on the ClubmanS was the tie breaker for me. The non-s didn't have enough giddy up for me and the S has more than I need.

Well, I started out spec'ing Hot Choc w/ HC leather, chrome line in and out, etc. I was going for a very "up-scale" looking MINI, and before I realized it was around the $28K mark.

I was selling my F150 and was expecting to get around $5K - $6K equity so I only wanted to pull about $18K out of pocket. Sooooo, I went back and tried to trim as much out of the car as possible. I even went so far as to limit myself to non-metallic paint.

In the end, I went with my choice because there were two MCS's on the lot: One PW and one MY, each w/ black roof and wheels. They were both gorgeous, but the MY just seemed to have more "pop" than the PW. Also, I searched all of the dealer inventories to see how many MY Clubmans were out there, and found VERY few, so that helped make my mind up.

As far as a name, I am half British so I've always liked British names. When my wife was pregnant I was trying to convince her that Simon would be great for a boy. However, we had a girl, so the Clubman got the name.

Greg, as long as the other half isn't french, you're good!
I went over a neighbor's MCS PW and it was SWEET!
MYellow and SpSilver are neglected colours(colors) in the Mini world.

Hum,

Cuz its what mama wanted? Yep, that's it!

It's name is IZZZY. Mama really likes Eddie Izzard and has his voice on the TomTom. He continually gets cranked and tells us to quit "pi$$ing about" when we deviate from the path.

Uncle John...Eddie Izzard! "Do you have a flag!"

Eddie saved me from a terrible bid-ness trip when I saw his 1999 bit on cable. I love the dude. His voice is on Tom-Tom...sweet.

I've wanted a Mini for years, and BRG was always color choice #1 through 10. Can't imagine another color, even though I like just about all of them.

His name is Edwin(old English for 'wealthy friend'). We are huge Arcade Fire fans(Win Butler), and my better half thought of it so who was I to argue. I came up with 'Regine', but that will have to be our next Mini. Our vanity plates are going to say 'USKDSNO'(us kids know), which is a lyric in one of our favorite songs - No Cars Go.

I have a few pics in my gallery, with one of our 'kid' in the back seat.

Edwin is a handsome boy.
Color prefrence is the largest delay in ordering a Mini!

The Mini configurator shows hideous colors compared to everyone's pics.

Maddie needs a brother, or a kitten.

To start, I like all the color combos on the Clubman; but I do like some even more than others. MY actually looks very good but I can't drive a yellow car every day. Darker colors are harder to keep looking clean, so Astro Black and Hot Choc were out. I really like NFR/Black, but again it is pretty dark. I think DS/silver with silver viper stripes is especially classy. But this car is for my wife, and she has always wanted an off-white car, so PW it is. PW/Black is one of my all-time favorite combos, but for some reason I think it looks better on the standard mini than the Clubman - the black halo doesn't do it for me, so I went with PW/Silver with silver bonnet stripes.

I can't name it until it appears, so that will have to wait a month or so.

Now, I'm seriously considering ordering a MCS (PW/Black, of course) for myself. Might have to name that one Pepe for the skunky look.

Well, kind of an obvious choice, but I really liked the lightning blue / silver combination that appeared in many of the marketing materials and reviews, and the test car I took out was also lightning blue / silver. Probably one of the most popular color combinations, and I'm conservative with car color choices (last three cars: silver, black, blue). I know it's not flashy or unusual, but the Clubman is unusual enough for me, even in lightning blue / silver. I have a few pics in my gallery.

Edwin thanks you.

Right on about the actual color viewing in person. As for the Clubbie model itself, I have friends who generally think it looks way better in the flesh than online, although we did get the 'hearse!' comment the other day.

Miss Maddie had a brother a few years ago - now he's in the great leash-free park in the sky .

mini clubman, Lightning Blue/Silver is awsome...but when the first Mini ads came out, it was a blue/silver combo.
Yes, not the same, but I remembered that .
I knew it'd be a popular combo.

Well, I went with Lightning blue because I was so sick of trying to finally pick a color. They all look decent. I knew I loved LB without any reservations, so i just did it...

I was on the wait list for 2 years for OTTO. I had a lot of time to think about colors, but until the configurator was released for the UK it was futile. I never thought I'd have another red car, especially with the number of hot sunny days in Arizona. But after I had decided on Laser Blue/Black I woke up in the middle of the night and knew it had to be Chile Red/Black. No regrets. That combo had named itself OTTO the first time I configured it. I like names that are the same either direction.
I've had him since mid-February and love him more every day. He is the best decision I ever made. On the worst days he always makes me smile.

Hobbs, "Because I loved it" is the right reason and only reason! I run into that at the gun range as we compare 40 cal, 45 cal and the dreadede 50 cal.
Good for your neighbors lusting after your hottie!

Cloud10, I call Bullshad on 2 years. What's the real story? Prison, Army, bad in-laws?
More pics of the kids are necessary. My fuball is the wrong species. Now, I can't imagine living without one.

Pepper White because I wanted a light color that wasn't silver. Sparkling Silver was a close second, but it would always look a bit dusty. Black pillars because they blend in with the windowline, and a white roof because a black roof would be difficult to keep clean.

No name in particular.

Plenty of pictures in the gallery when I get it in 3-4 weeks.

Not quite sure what you mean here. I put a deposit on a Clubman Jan. 4, 2006. Started as No. 7 on the list and moved up to No. 1 by June 2007. I'm a girl, not a guy and never have had any run ins with police or enlisted in any military. My in-laws are dead as are most people in my life. Terminally ill husband so my Clubby is the bright spot in my life. Had a brain tumor for 21 years before any doctors listened and fixed it so I learned long ago to get what you want out of life and enjoy every day. Photos in the gallery. My only passengers in my cars are gorillas. They never complain.
