R55 Why did you pick your Clubman color combo?
I have a CR/B Clubbie S. Why did I pick the color? The most significant reason - becuase I didn't feel I should have to pay $500 for paint. But the combo is pretty popular and if other colors were standard, I probably would have gone a different route.
I was tired of silver / gray cars. My previous car was a silver Audi TT, before that was a silver Mercury Cougar, before that was a gray Oldsmobile (college car). My wife has a silver Xterra.
Plus, I saw Larry Parker's CR/B S and fell in love.
No name or fancy story here.

I went with Laser Blue, Silver roof, c-pillas and mirrors on my Clubbie S. I wanted a color that others could see and I like the look of the Laser Blue. I put on many miles and encounter some terrible drivers, thus the choice for a bright color. As for her name: Stella Blue.
jweiss, I feel your pain re that $500 extra for certain paint colors...but I paid it anyway... Volvo does this too, hence the plethora of white Volvos around.
P.S. Honestly, there are so many beautiful colors...I almost stuck with Pepper White again...and in some ways I wish I had because that PW never looked dirty!

We liked the idea of a Hot Chocolate MINI ever since rumors about the new color surfaced in MF a year or so ago. We even got more excited when we learned that Hot Cocoa was also going to be offered in the Clubman S (At first it was believed to be a Cooper only color).
The second choice was going to be Lighting Blue. But blue cars are more common. Hot Cocoa a little more unique and another plus was that the color was exclusive to the Clubman (Sorry R56 owners).
Since to me the only way to have a MINI is with a contrasting roof, I had pretty much made up my mind on the Silver top. My wife wanted black.... That is until she saw the rear bits of a Black roofed Clubman. Nope it didn't work for us, so Silver it was.
A third distance choice was going to be Nightfire Red but unfortunately, MINI doesn't think the Cooper S model should have any other red than Chili Red (Which I love and currently own).
We ordered the car last December sight unseen. We went with our gut feeling and did not have second taughts about the color. We finally picked it up Feb 27th. We have never seen/touch a Clubman before that day, much less a Hot Cocoa one. No regrets.
We named the car "Mousse" as the chocolate dessert.
Hot Cocoa is a bit dark and in overcast days it almost looks too dark. But when freshly washed and waxed...Oh lala!
We love it. Brown cars are not everyone's cup of tea but at least it sets up apart from the ocean of silver/grey and blue cars out there.
Other colors I dig are Laser Blue (My wife hates it) and British Racing Green. You'll be surprised how gorgeous BRG looks with a Silver roof.

Glad we did it as now Rich can no longer drive or walk so at least we had some fun there.
I asked to be put on the 2009 Cabrio list after I got the Clubman because I am so impressed with the handling and the way the car just fits.
Very happy with my wait, no matter how long it was.
Happy Motoring to everyone!!!
Me too, CDMINI. Sign and drive, and I've told that tale elsewhere o the Forum. I had gone through many versions of my Clubman, including S and Justa varieties. Like someone above said- the Justa Cooper is a bit slow, the S almost scares me. I had almost settled on Sparkling Silver but it was a bit green, and I've been green since 1996, so when I got to Detroit to test drive one, there was my HC/B, all options Clubie waiting to be claimed. Sign, swap and drive. It took from 9 AM to 6 PM to do it, however, since I hadn't brought anything I needed with me, like the title to my Saturn, or even a checkbook! I love the HC, inside and out, but, yes, it is hard to keep clean! I am reading the detailing forum for tips (Hydro, etc).
I'd still be waiting if I hadn't found Fabio Cooper, named for Fabio Cancellera of Le Tour de France, who is adept at handling, while short of power, and still finishes high in the standings.

I picked PW because I like the fact that it is an offset white and is not as bright...also the fact that I saved $500 for other options. I chose the white roof because I'll be planning on moving to Phoenix after I leave the military in two years.
We got to see him at the Majestic in Dallas a few weeks ago. Was interesting to see him in "The Riches" garb instead of drag . . . He's a funny man.
There is not a color I don't like on a Mini. Same principle as there are no colors that look bad on my wife. Guess that's what happens when captivated by beauty. (She did not pay me to say that, nor is she looking over my shoulder right now.
) I have no objectivity. I went with PW because I've never had a white car, and because it freed up the $500 to go toward other interior goodies.
Not sure about a name -- but I'm leaning toward Nigel 'cause this one goes to 11. I have about 2 or 3 weeks before I pick up the car.
Gallery to follow once I have the primary subject matter parked in the driveway...
Fun thread. Nice job by Dragon Wagon.

2. My MINI's name is Lucky because that's what's inscribed on our wedding rings, which was inspired by the wedding scene in Napoleon Dynamite.
I am just happy that there are so many fellow Clubman lovers because when it was first announced and then released it caught a lot of flack because of it being different. I like different, although if they had released the prototype with a picnic table on the roof I think I would have asked for my deposit back.
I have never waited 2 years for anything let alone a car! I spent a lot of time looking over every other small car out there, but the wait for the Clubman was worth it. I am in love with my MINI.
Happy Motoring.
NJ Clubman, you're bragging about your wife...post a picture!
She can wear sunglasses if you'd like to hide her just a bit.
Cloud10, wasn't there a pic of a Clubman with a picnic table out of the barn doors?
I know I've seen something like that. Maybe another brand.

By the way, the only way I'll get a picture of her posted here is if I post a picture of the car, and she happens to be in it. ("Oops. Sorry, Dear. Don't know how that happened."
)I think it's all just the infatuation talking. I can understand that with regard to my wife. I never thought I'd be so nuts about a car. I used to think that Queen song was silly. Til this Mini phenomenon hit me.
I saw a PW/BLK Cabrio today and it was gorgeous, all spiffed and shined. I don't regret choosing SS, I just think all the colors are beautiful. Anyone ever see an ugly MINI? I was in my stupid 1999 green Astro van, but I still waved. He prob thought I was a nutter.
About the infatuation, I'm loving it! Me and dh are having a blast, learning new stuff, quizzing each other, memorizing the manual. We're sharing our midlife crisis with each other. I've been ordering MINI bling like crazy, almost every day there is another new package arriving, its like a Mini Christmas in June. Kids think I need medical intervention as I keep talking in "Brit speak." I try to learn 2 or 3 new Brit words a day. I told them next time we go to McDonalds, I'm ordering a "beef and cheese butty with chips" so that will keep me clear of that place for a few months, whew. Every MINI mag ad I find we clip and its also posted up in the kitchen. And soon, my fridge will be covered in badges. Ah...MINI love
Last Sat. there was nothing on tv, so dh hooked up the HDMI cable to the laptop and we watched clips of MINI commercials, MINI races, MINIs at the Dragon off of youtube for about 2hrs! There are some hilarious MINI ads, ones I had never seen. It was quite fun!

Color?
A co-worker of my wife's sent the "Zug" brochure home, because he knew I'd always had a latent Jones for a MINI. Unless she bought a bigger vehicle, a MINI was out, because my car is the one we always travel in. I put the brochure aside, because I wasn't in the market for a car. Time passed, and I decided that maybe it was time, especially since the 2nd gen cars get better fuel economy, reportedly better reliability, and "Hey! Think we can get our stuff in one of those?"
We test-drove a SS/B Clubman, and actually really liked the green tone in warm light. The black roof was out for heat reasons down here. My last car was blue, as is my motorcycle, so I decided against that. If I had an R56, it would have to be red, but in a Clubman, I decided for different. The wife vetoed PW and AB. Yellow was my brother's color, and I didn't want to poach, even in his absence. NFR almost got me, especially after I saw a great pic here on NAM. But, I kept coming back to the promo pics of HC/S, which gives me a nice contrast, lighter roof for summer, and dark body color for style.
As far as names go, I've never named any of the cars or bikes. We'll see if the Clubbie reveals a name or keeps quiet.
So, that's muh story! Meanwhile the wait (short as it is) is killing me. And, I'm currently car-less.

I looked at all the colors and decided I wanted an "under the radar" color, which is why I went with Dark Silver. After I ordered I wanted to change to a black roof, but was told it was too late (no, it wasn't!). Almost pressed the issue, but realized most Dark Silver Clubman's were being ordered with a black roof, so I decided to be "different".
My Clubman is named Zim (after Invader Zim), because he's one of my favorite cartoon characters and it fit in with the silly advertising campaign (Zig, Zag, Zug.... Zim!).
Of course, pics are in my gallery!

I chose chili red with black roof and bonnet stripes because, after walking around the lot for three hours changing my mind too many times, I felt it was the snazziest. I've had a dark car for too many years which is what cancelled the idea of BRG. As a Red Sox fan of many decades his name will be Fenway...very apt, don't you think?
