"Waiting to be released to the Carrier"? Huh???

Since last Tuesday my clubman has been complete from production but is "waiting to be released to the carrier". A week waiting to be be released to the carrier. I called ASK MINI and they said they are unsure where my vehicle is. So being impatient and wanting to know what happened to my clubman, is my only option to contact my MA? Any ideas.... help me please.... ha ha ha

Tim,

Thanks but right now the vehicle is stuck 'waiting to be released to the carrier'. from what I was told at ASK MINI is the car hasn't moved in a week but they couldn't tell me why. I wonder if there is something wrong (it didn't pass QC inspection) or if there is a back log of vehicles going to the port. I can see the latter occurring but not for a week.

I emailed my MA and am waiting to hear what they have to say.

Joep, I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). My MINI was completed MAY 7!!! It's been at the port since May 9. I speak/email with my MA daily and he can't get any more info than I've been able to get online.

Hang in there. It's totally frustrating, but we'll get our MINIs and the wait will be worth it!

Contact your motoring adviser and have them check. My car did the same at the port. After a couple weeks, my MA investigated and found it was being repaired due to a scratch during shipping. MiniUSA and the owner's lounge never did show anything during this time.

My Mini was at the port about 3 weeks.

No change in price. Although my MA threw in carpet mats, driving lights, mud flaps. Those 3 add up to quite a bit. I was already getting those 3 before he included them in the price. I've read that old thread. The repair is not noticeable, either visually or by feel. I've never measured the paint thickness on the door to see how much was repainted. The scratch was 0-1" on the report my MA acquired.

When I found out about the repair, I told my MA we may be ordering a new car and I would have to see it in person. I saw the car just after it got off the truck before it was prepped. I don't have any regret getting it.

I imagine they do minor repairs on lots of cars or they wouldn't have invested in that type of facility at the port.

What is funny to me is they found this tiny, less than 1" scratch but failed to see the TERRIBLE paint job on the front bumper. I guess that's what happens when a robot paints something. A person would have seen they missed areas and resprayed. I ended up getting the entire front bumper repainted, at Mini's cost, buy a paint shop near my dealer.

sounds like you made out just fine. i was actually thinking about getting the driving lights before they told me those two little lights would total $800 after they were installed...

maybe i'll get lucky and they'll scratch my car on delivery too...

Well, I left a message with my MA today and didn't hear from him. I'm gonna assume that he was off today!

On the way home from work, I called the ASK MINI and spoke with a customer rep. and they told me that my car was assigned to a carrier and was going to be sent to the port today or tomorrow. they couldn't tell me what happened or why it "sat" for a week, but was going to be on it's way soon.
